Wonderful
Breakfast was excellent. The bedroom was spacious.
The bathroom was a little dated with the sink tap continuously running. The bed was horrible in that the mattress was soft and offered little support

Great breakfast with a wide choice of food; hot full English, cold meat and cheese, breads, cereals, fruit juice and a great choice of freshly ground coffee.
Nice to have a sauna and a swim. Great looking gymn. Bar and restaurant atmosphere is very nice with space to do work if you have to.
Literally next door to the zoo.
Bus stop outside (use it, it's a very efficient bus service and the price is fair, Tap, tap, cap)

The hotel is in need of a full refurbishment, it's looking extremely tired. The bathrooms have seen better days, the corridors and door surrounds are looking very chipped and battered, the roof tiles everywhere are showing signs of past leaks. It's a bit shabby now.
However, this isn't a complaint...it would have been nice to have a pristinely decorated hotel but never mind, we still enjoyed our stay. The staff are excellent and the hotel has great facilities for a comfortable stay.

The location suited my needs to be near Edinburgh City Centre, to be able to park my car & utilise the local buses to travel in the City Centre.
The breakfast area was very crowded & none of the coffee machines were working at the time of my visit. Whilst there were a few staff members around they seemed to be frantically clearing & resetting tables & keeping the supply of breakfast foods topped up, almost oblivious to assisting guests.

Excellent cooked breakfast.
I would have preferred to have individual yogurt rather than an open dish of only two choices.
I would also comment that it was disappointing to find that some items on the evening menu were unavailable, poor for a hotel of this size.

The location was easy to get to with the amount of buses that go past
One of the beds in our room had an absolutely foul smell to it, my friend pulled back her cover and it unleashed a deathly smell. We phoned down to explain this and had little to no response, no apology, just that nothing could be done. My friend was left laying on her bed with just a towel as she didn’t want to get into a bed that smelt like that. I also explained this on the phone and no solution was given. I called back 20 minutes later and asked for a duvet cover as she was cold and shouldn’t be left with a towel to sleep with, again a very short response of ‘okay’ and nothing else. When this duvet was eventually brought up it was shoved into my friends arms with no words and them leaving straight away after pushing it into her. Very disappointed. We have stayed here before and had a lovely time but this has left a very sour taste in our mouths, and to have so solution made or apology was so extremely disappointing as we’d previously raved about our previous stay.
