Location was great
This was the dirtiest hotel, with the worst beds. Mattress Springs were making noise just laying still. Dead flowers in lobby. Floors were not vacuumed. Rooms had very poor lighting. This was not a standard Hilton at all.

Good location just off the royal mile near the train station. Gorgeous old historic building.
Lots of building works ongoing scaffold places boarded up. Wasn't aware prior to booking which was shocking given the rates . Facilities not available such as a bar area, the had a temp bar im basement area where breakfast was served, no music or tv, still full price overpriced drinks. Poor atmosphere miserable staff. Signage in hotel at lift incorrect. Lifts were extremely slow not enough for amount of guests. One out of order. Beds uncomfortable and pillows lumpy flat awful, so much better comfort in a premier inn. Dirty bathroom, black scum in sink and hair left in bath.

We had Queen room: the room was very dark, because of small window and constructions on it.
The window do not open for fresh air, although Booking.com customer service assured that they do open!
The smell from the restaurant in all the hotel, even in the rooms.
The bed was not comfortable, worn out and torn.
The mattress is bad and you can feel all the metal fasteners.
A lot of small flying flies in the bathroom, on the walls, mirror and on the floor.
We stayed 3 nights and housekeepers did not noticed them?? It was disgusting. The cosmetics and towels in the bathroom were good.
Overpriced,500£ per night with beetles...

Location is right in the middle of everything. Everything was within a walking distance. Good selection in breakfast
We had a 4 person room. There were two double beds which are narrow and we would have liked to have wider beds (2 x queen or king)

Location
Absolutely no toiletries were provided. Check out was 11 am, no compromise. Room was so small and tv was in such an awkward location, you’ll get a neck ache trying to watch anything.

Location wins hands down close to the Station, city centre and Castle
The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, even had Haggis for breakfast
The room was very nice and very comfortable
The air-conditioning unit super quiet and worked extremely well.

The room starting to show signs of ware eg. the headboards worn with people leaning back on them.
The Air conditioning, because of the high ceiling the cleaners are unable to clean the accumulated dust above the vent. Maybe angel the vent down instead of up could sole this

Staff were amazing
On arrival and seeing that the hotel was under renovations. Scaffoldings all outside the hotel and nothing was mentioned about this on the hotel websites. Maybe why we got the free room upgrade.
