We were just passing through Edinburgh and therefore just needed a room for one night...12 hrs to be precise.
As we were arriving at Haymarket and about to fly out, I've booked the hotel opp. the train station.
* Reception staff was super friendly and check in smoothly.
* Room was small (they call it "cosy"), but with a window. Careful, there are some without.
* Everything was very clean.
* DOVE dispensers for handsoap/shower gel/body lotion in the bathroom.
No hot but tepid water for a shower after a long trip to Edinburgh was less than ideal. We were offered the next door room, as allegedly there WAS warm (?) water. We declined.
The window didn't close completely so it was baltic in the room with -3°C outside temperature and noise-wise it was like sleeping outside, not on the 3rd floor.
Bathroom was miniscule, not heated (!) and only separated by a ill-fitting frosted glass door from the room...so no privacy when on the toilet.
No tea/coffee facilities.
Fire alarm went off twice during the night, that didn't help either....but I assume, that's not a daily occurrence.

Breakfast was next door in the pub but it was well stocked with plenty of choice. Good value for money.
The glass door for the bathroom, if you needed to use the bathroom during the night the light was very bright.

It’s in a well location.
The room are tiny, definitely ok for one person not two. It was so tight, I’m 5’4 and I felt big there. The bathroom is tiny. I would pay extra to stay in a bigger place.

The breakfast was decent.
This hotel is by far the worst I’ve been to. Upon arriving at the hotel, no one assisted us with our bags. They placed us in a very warm room without a window (but they never mentioned this option upon booking). We have requested to fix the AC three times - they said it was fixed but still ended up broken, and at the last minute, they told us there’s no available maintenance. The water heater wasn’t working on our first night as well. Thanks to the staff who moved us to the new room. No bathrobes and slippers too. They only refilled the shower gel on our last day (but we’ve requested them to refill it a couple of times). I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to someone who really wants to enjoy their stay in Edinburgh. Good for those who had a positive experience. But our stay was really disappointing and not worth the money.
