Just 164 feet from Edinburgh’s bustling Princes Street, Haystack Hostel is set in a renovated 18th-century Georgian building. It offers (not 24h reception) with free Wi-Fi and a fully equipped shared kitchen. With luxurious wooden triple bunks, the dorms are all equipped with individual power and USB sockets, reading lights, and bed linen. Shared bathroom facilities include large showers and separate men's and women's bathrooms. It's right in the middle of the city centre and near tons of restaurants and shops. Despite being in the city, it was quiet inside the room. I booked a bed in a 12-bed all female room but when the staff saw that they have available beds in the 8 bed room, she offered it to me at no extra cost. The only caveat with the 8 bed room is that they do not have lockers underneath the beds.
The beds squeak at every move you make. The bed cushion is quite thin as well. Since the hostel is on the top floor, the water pressure is quite weak.

For the the instalation and facility, to be in the top floor was over price, taiking in concideration 12 bed in one room.
If could be proviade some conciderations for desability and mobility bunk bed. Due to the restition of the adjutment in the selections of preferencia of bed as well location in the top floor. Could be possible some flexibility.

Everything went very smoothly all the way from the check in to picking up my suitcase that I left there for a day after check out. Everyone was very nice, the instructions couldn’t be any more clear, the room tidy, bathrooms and showers clean and the location superb. Would definitely book again:)
Setting the water temperature in the shower is a tad problematic but to be fair it does say not to play with the dials and maybe somebody did:) More of a hiccup than a problem.

Amazing! My first stay at a hostel and Haystack has set the bar very high. The rooms, even with 12 women, offered privacy and security. Well equipped kitchen and very clear signage everywhere!
I rented a towel, it was abit stinky.

Great location, convenient for both transport and heading into town. Friendly staff. Nice kitchen and lounge areas. I liked the overall aesthetic and vibe.
The triple-bunks are naturally rather cramped; not enough space to sit up in bed. Shower water pressure was dismal.
