The location was great close to the train station and easy to access restaurants and bars.
The staff member who checked us in wasn’t terribly friendly and was more concerned about ensuring the room would be paid for despite having been paid in advance, I think it was rather expensive for what it was. The refuse collectors were noisily collecting several loads of glass bottles very early which woke us up.

Great location, quiet hostel, very clean
The beds are rather low so you can't sit up. The mattress was a little hard for my liking. The toilets were a corridor away.

The hostel is conveniently located near Edinburgh Waverly station (just a short 5mins walk). The common area is very cosy. The shower rooms and toilets are maintained very clean. The bunk beds are neatly organised and comfortable. You have a charging point and lamp next to your bed, with a big storage cabinet at the front of the room. The hostel is quiet and peaceful. I felt safe staying at Haystack Hostel

It was located in a great area. Rooms were nice. Bathrooms were clean. Beds were hard but bedding was nice. Lockers were nice— basic but good! Kitchen facilities were very nice. But I mostly ate out. The staff had great recs on what to do and where to eat
The showers were difficult to temperature regulate.
And there’s LOTS of stairs to get up to the hostel.

Staff was very helpful i had an issue with my padlock and the receptionist was so nice to me. Everyone welcomed me well, even with language barrier I could understand them well. Rooms kitchen showers were clean. I really enjoyed my stay and I wanted to stay more.

The hostel's location is excellent. I could walk to the old town, parks, restaurants, markets, and everything that interested me. It is also very close to the train station and bus stops.
The beds in the room where I stayed were triple bunks, and the top bunk was way too close to the ceiling! I’m short, and even I couldn't sit up straight. I found it uncomfortable... the bathrooms were very clean, but they seemed small for the number of people using them. There were only two toilet stalls in the shared women's bathroom—since one was out of order—and there were nine girls only in my room alone! Counting the other rooms...bit crowded.

the location couldn't be better, right in the heart of edinburgh, it was very easy to commute everywhere from the hostel. rooms were cosy and cleanest bathrooms ive ever seen in a hostel before. staff were very kind and friendly. also lots of communal spaces so very easy to meet new people, especially whilst solo travelling.

4號房其中一個上層的床，插座位置被床卡著幾乎無法使用。
浴室裡熱水器建議的溫度非常燙，也許是和季節有關，夏天去還是調冷一點比較剛好。

Good location and staff - hostel well equipped and felt safe as a woman travelling alone.
Loud noise of dorm door closing every time someone went in or out during the night. Unused locker next to the bunk bed I was sleeping in wouldn't stay closed and kept on swinging open into the limited floorspace.
