It was a large apartment, just as shown in the picture, and very comfortable for a family of six. However, we did like the location.
One of the shower had mold and glass door wasn’t working properly, and the shower with curtain not working properly, causing water leak out. Additionally, there were not enough dishes or plates provided for family of six.

A picture is worth a thousand words. The advertisement images are taken from flattering angles, but the reality is reflected in my attached photos. The first thing that greeted us upon arrival was a row of overflowing, foul-smelling trash containers at the entrance.
On Booking.com and other sites, you will see photos suggesting a staffed reception desk. However, after you reserve and pay, Braid Apartments requires you to download their app and communicate only through it, informing you that the property is actually unattended. This compromises the privacy normally offered when booking through Booking.com, and if a dispute arises, the booking platforms have no record of your communications.
We arrived on Christmas Eve and received our entry code via text message and email. We were assigned apartment BA03. Reaching the room was quite an ordeal with luggage: up 10 stairs, right through a fire door, down 10 stairs, left and down 7 more stairs, right through another fire door, down another 7 stairs, walk a bit and then up again to finally reach BA03.
The apartment faces an alley and parking spaces. It was cold outside, and the room temperature was 17°C when we entered. The thermostat was complicated to operate, and with no staff available on Christmas Eve, I relied on the manufacturer’s manual to get it working. Once heat finally started coming through, I realized the sofa was blocking the radiator, so I had to move it myself to allow the room to warm up.
The bedroom is extremely small, barely fitting a double bed. The window sits directly above the headboard, making the coldest area right above your head, while the radiator is located behind the door. To open a window shade and get daylight, you must climb onto the sofa because the pull cord is on the wrong side, and the other shade does not stay up.
For context: as a Booking.com Genius Level 3+ member, I paid USD 962 (GBP 713.70) for a three-night stay. You can do the math on the nightly rate.

The location was absolutely perfect, so close to so many things, also very convenient to the grocery store as well as the tram/bus station. The flat was spotlessly clean and well appointed, with everything we needed to cook meals in and be very comfortable during our stay. The bed was older but fairly comfortable. Even the towels were nice and large. The staff was very friendly and helpful every interaction we had. In spite of its convenient location near the city center, it was surprisingly quiet and we felt very safe and relaxed there. It was also very spacious!
The only note I could think of would be maybe a throw blanket would be nice- but I know that makes for extra laundry so completely understand why there wouldn’t be one!

The apartment was very roomy. The wall separating the bed from the living space was nice for privacy. The kitchen had everything we needed. Good location - it was close to the train station and buses. The Edinburgh Castle was within walking distance.

Fantastic place to stay. The location is in a nice, quiet area. It's close enough to Waverley Train station for an easy walk, but far enough away from the noise and busyness. Really convenient to many dinning options, shopping and everything. Easy and convenient access in/out of the hotel and great communication. If you stay, be sure to visit the Thistle Street Bar, which is a lovely, quiet bar just a couple hundred feet away.

It was great to have a bit more space than a usual hotel room would provide, and having access to a kitchen and the ability to do some laundry during a lengthy trip was great. Everything you’d want to see and do within Edinburgh is walkable from the apartment. The staff was absolutely lovely.
