Wonderful
Great full Scottish breakfast, friendly people. The location is ideal, close to the tram to the airport and in the center to go explore the city on foot.

Murray the proprietor was so helpful and charming with recommendations and knowledge about his city.
I didn't realize there would be lots of stairs....Murray was very helpful with luggage when we got there and otherwise we got used to the stairs, so no biggie.

Murray was an exceptional host. Location with regards to train station was very good. Murray helped us with dinner recommendations which was excellent. Breakfast was outstanding.
I was concerned that street noise was going to be a problem but everything quieted down at bed time

What a great central location! We took the light rail directly from the airport to St Andrews square, and our lodging was right around the corner. Walking distance to all the attractions, and our host, Murray, could not be more gracious and accommodating.
The stairs up to the lobby! Thankfully, Murray greeted us halfway up and carried our heaviest luggage the rest of the way.

An ideal location right in the heart of Edinburgh. This charming, cosy little hotel has a wonderfully warm and homely atmosphere — it almost feels like staying at your grandma’s place. The breakfast was freshly prepared and surprisingly good for a hotel of this price point. The manager, Murray, was exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable about the city. Be sure to ask him for recommendations, no matter what you’re planning to do!
You have to climb upstairs to reach the rooms (3-4 floors). For us it wasn't a big deal and Murray was kind enough to help with our bags, but for people with heavier luggage or limited mobility this might be an issue - be sure to check first.

First of all, I want to give a special thank to Murray (the owner / the manager of the facility) since his interest to not only to me but also to all guests is great. For instance he serves himself at breakfasts and makes a chit chat with all guests. The facility is very comfortable and the breakfast is great. Moreover it's location is just a walking away to the places where you should see in Edinburgh so I can recommend Elder York Guest House definitely.

Wonderful
Our host Murray was fantastic! Helped us to explore the city of Edinburgh, very knowledgeable. Worked hard to understand our needs and then fulfill them. Breakfast was outstanding, room was clean, comfortable and quiet with great views of the surrounding neighborhood. Outstanding location, near the Broughton neighborhood with cmany good restaurants and pubs. At the same time, incredibly close to all of the traditional attractions of both the New Town and Old Town.
No elevator means a healthy stair climb up to your room.
