Disappointing
That said, there were a couple of positives. The bed was very comfortable, the location is excellent for exploring the city, and the reception staff we interacted with were friendly and pleasant.
I recently stayed at Hilton Edinburgh and, unfortunately, it did not live up to the expectations typically associated with the Hilton brand.
For a two-night stay costing over €500, I would have expected a far higher standard. The room was noticeably in disrepair, with very poor finishing touches such as painted-over tiles, tape covering a cabinet corner, and visible stains on doors and walls that had not been properly cleaned. The carpet also appeared not to have been hoovered prior to our arrival, which immediately impacted the overall impression.
In terms of amenities, the offering was extremely basic. There were no individual toiletries aside from the wall-mounted bottles in the shower, and no extras such as slippers or robes — something I would expect at this price point. Tea and coffee supplies were also not adequately stocked and had to be repeatedly requested.
Housekeeping was another frustration. Our room was not serviced until after 4pm the following day, and only after we specifically requested it. This was particularly disappointing as we had planned to return earlier in the afternoon to relax before getting ready for an event.
That said, there were a couple of positives. The bed was very comfortable, the location is excellent for exploring the city, and the reception staff we interacted with were friendly and pleasant.
Overall, this stay felt far from luxurious and did not reflect the price paid. City breaks are no longer inexpensive, and while I don’t mind paying for quality, I do expect the standard to match. Unfortunately, this experience fell well short of that expectation.

The room hadn’t been correctly serviced, on arrival an opened half drunk bottle of wine was in the fridge, the room was missing robes, slippers, dressing table mirror and book about the city - we knew this because our friends in the next room had them. However we expressed concern to reception and were offered a complimentary drink from the bar and robes and slippers were provided.
The refreshment tray wasn’t replenished throughout our 3 night stay.

Location, hotel and room decorations was good. I liked that they offered welcome cookie when you check in. Room was decent, but the layout of the room is narrow.
I would like to raise a concern about the noise from the floor. Whenever someone walks past my room, or possibly in the neighbouring room, I can hear every footstep very clearly. Unfortunately, this woke me up in the morning.

Excellent location, friendly reception, clean, comfortable room.
Breakfast was poor. Everything was dried up and unappetising. Coffee, juice and pastries were fine. Would order off the menu in future. Much prefer to go to place where my breakfast is served.
Lift was not working after breakfast.
