They took and additional payment for the room leaving me £800 out of pocket for 4 days until they could refund. Every time you went to use the lift as our rooms were on the 2nd floor they were either full of staff with cleaning carts or they were 1st in the queue and did not let guests go first. Young guests sat in corridors on their phones at midnight and later quite intimidating when returning to your room.

Bar staff and breakfast staff were all lovely, and breakfast was good.
Room wasn't clean- carpet was not clean, beds uncomfortable, and shaky. These standards are not what you'd expect at all for a hotel selling a luxurious, comfortable experience!
There were no windows that opened in a room without functioning air con. This made for an uncomfortable experience. My complaint at the time resulted in a fan being supplied to circulate the warm air! Outside temps were 8-10 degrees!
I assume some rooms are lovely, and some are bad, based on the other reviews. But the poor reviews do not seem to have resulted in improvements. By complaints are identical to other reviews I've read.
My room fell well below standard.
Great location and entrance area is lovely. Bar was also good. Breakfast good.

A nice man at the restaurant let me have coffee even though I didn't want to buy an overpriced breakfast
Didn't rise to the level of corporate non-entity it clearly aspires to. No coffee/water in rooms. Staff understandably bored with the whole enterprise.

Comfortable, clean rooms and lovely breakfast
Booking system was a nightmare, rooms double booked or lost completely ( one guest had to be decanted to the Marriot up the road ) and available staff were too junior to resolve issues properly. Bride and groom were telephoned by the desk at 2am demanding payment , when room was include in wedding package. Unbelievable levels of bad communication and incompetence.
