The grounds and hotel facilities are very good staff was excellent
The management of the breakfast was very poor
As with an half an hour of breakfast closing no basic supplies were re filled for example no fruit no sausage no bacon nor pastries
I asked three members of staff while all offered apologies could not provide basic breakfast facilities
The second morning the same occurred not at all satisfactory and very poor and on this basis while the hotel is good basic breakfast management would mean I would not stay there again
When I raised this I was offered a refund for breakfast and an apology whilst I accepted the apology I did not accept the refund I just completed a morning coffee elsewhere
Really this needs to be resolved for such a lovely hotel setting and is letting the entire experience not one I want to repeat

Breakfast was rubbish , most was not available, baked goods stale , meat and hot food was not good either not available or just burnt and shriveled
Tables where crammed in so people knocking past all the time. Really disappointed

The rooms were very good, very comfortable beds.. the best thing we loved is the availability of a small pedestal fan which really helped through the stay as we were in the midst of the summer in Scotland... Breakfast was sumptuous.. overall great experience
the property of this Big size should have had options for multiple restaurants which again had severe limitations as one was allowed with only pre-booking which again was not alerted while booking the property on Booking.com

We stayed in a beautiful suite with luxurious space, white crisp linen and very comfortable bed. It is positioned in a stunning location and close to Edinburgh centre. It has beautiful gardens and colourful flowers, in an amazing setting and location. Plenty free parking on the property. Breakfast was great with choice of buffet or a la carte.
The inside was difficult to navigate and we often got lost.

Good location beautiful grounds. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pleasant. Pentland restaurant very pretty.
We chose the cheapest room. It was adequate but uninspiring. We were offered an upgrade prior to arrival but chose not to take it. The brassiere was pleasant, pasta nice, but the vegetarian burger was disappointing, basically made of potato.

Elegant and historical buildings with vast expanse of open gardens and Golf course
Just one restaurant and for a person travelling in for a day or two, no admissions stating restaurant not Pre-booked. For the size of property, they should have more than one restaurant

Breakfast area near the golf course, castle like feel from outside. Walk into the woods, birds, duck pond.
Rooms are too far from reception, too many lifts and not easy to find rooms. Croissants weren't available on the Sunday breakfast. Quite expensive.

Breakfast was bountiful and above average. High tea was good, and while expensive, was about right compared to other teas. Would have preferred the tea already brewed rather than bags. Nature trail, pool and fitness were excellent. Front desk printed our boarding passes. Concierge and bellman were very good. Parking was abundant and easy. Food was good and not overpriced. Dining room and lounges have a relaxed, country club feel. A high end property.
I had an important question that I needed an answer from that I never received from contacting reservations online prior to check in. Service in person was prompt, before not.
