Disappointing
Liked the over all aumbience of the hotel , staff were ultra friendly even house keeping very nice lady asking how everything was with the room , restaurant bar staff were efficient friendly too , shower was good and easy to work .
Thanks for asking for feedback. I don’t want to sound like an old moan, but as I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and have stayed at Dakota before, I thought it was worth giving you an honest view. The rooms feel quite small for this market. I actually tried to upgrade online but the system kept crashing, and then tried again at reception when we checked in, but unfortunately the hotel was full. The room itself was really no better than a Premier Inn standard. There was also underwear and a couple of other garments left in the room from the previous guest. I handed them into reception just in case the room had somehow been double booked — thankfully it hadn’t! There were three of us for dinner. I had the salmon, my daughter had the fillet steak and her husband had the strip beef. The main courses were quite sparse on the plate, so we ordered side dishes, as well as pâté starters and desserts, with a few drinks. The bill came to £375, which felt quite a lot for what was, in fairness, a fairly ordinary meal. My daughter also found the bed uncomfortable and felt the mattress really needed replacing, so she didn’t get a particularly good night’s sleep. Breakfast was probably the biggest disappointment. We came down around 9.30am and the buffet had been pretty much decimated, with quite a few things finished. I asked if it was going to be replenished and the server, who was very nice, said they would do it when they had time. They seemed very understaffed and under a lot of pressure. Tea and coffee were brought to the table, which was fine, and we helped ourselves to the orange juice, although the apple juice had already run out. Unfortunately, the buffet still wasn’t replenished. The cooked breakfast then arrived from the kitchen. It looked good, but mine was cold and the egg was hard — almost like a bullet! If the food is being cooked and served from the kitchen rather than sitting on a hot buffet, I would expect it to arrive hot and properly cooked.

Wonderful
stayed several times as a reasonable alternative to high City centre costs but need a car. Clean, comfortable, friendly helpful staff.
Parking limited when busy and told one only has 15 mins to complete the registration record before a parking ticket is issued which seems ridiculous. We had no children but if one was busy this would seem very unreasonable.

The wait time in restaurant I went in at 3pm there were 4 people in the restaurant i ordered burger and chips 50mins later still didn't have my food I had to go and chase up terrible service

the feel of the hotel, the professional manner from all the staff, ease of parking at the location, The great food and ambiance. Even when it was really busy with a load of tourists booking in and leaving it felt unhurried and staff were able to make us feel welcome.
The noise from the windows which went all night. They creaked and moved all night in the wind. I could feel the movement of the window frame in the wind. It was a windy night but it has put us off returning.

Restaurant food is always excellent. Rooms are relaxing, stylish and like 'coming home'. The style andvambience is as expected for a hotel of this expense.
The restaurant/bar staff this time we're rather off-kilter. A Bloody Mary was served as a tasteless concoction in a long glass with a dozen pieces of ice (no exageration) and no celery. Upon noting this, was then served a replacement but found the bar manager had simply transferred the watery cocktail into a shorter glass. Third time almost lucky - received a new mixture with no ice - and still no celery, which is a key ingredient in a Bloody Mary. Food was delicious though - but took almost 1 hour to arrive. Problem in kitchen apparently. We have been going to the Dakota since it opened 20 years ago but it was very diminished this time. Perhaps time for a change?

Pleasant
We were disappointed with the bed. It was very uncomfortable quite hard & i kept feeling i was going to roll off it. I am a small woman my husband is medium build yhere was space but i felt sire when i got out of bed my back especially.The room was nice and the shower room also. I felt annoyed as I kept wakening up changing sides as i felt sore.
