Ok this is funny. I was tired from traveling for 24 hours and they let me check in early. I woke up at 5 and thought I had just slept about 10 hours and thought it was morning so I got ready and checked out for my next destination. But it was only 5 in the afternoon so I would say I had a very expensive nap. I kind of wish someone had questioned me about checking out so early. It wasn’t dark until I was on the train to Berwick on Tweed and I asked my friend “is it night?” I was very confused and jet lagged.

Really nice room, we did.a minor upgrade that brought free beverages and snacks in mini bar. Nice coffee option in room. Very good food. nice, helpful staff and timely free airport shuttle. Bonus of nice bathrobes!
Can't think of anything.

Excellent & efficient room set up! Felt spacious, desk also had a mirror & outlet so I could do my hair & make-up in natural light & with plenty of space to put my things. Lobby & rooms have a cool & sophisticated aesthetic, very handsome. Spacious bathroom. Staff was friendly, professional & attentive. Located not far from the cutest harbor front shopping/restaurant district and easy access to the airport. Will definitely return!

This modern hotel is is a great value for a property so near the airport. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable with a comfy bed and an excellent shower. This is our hotel of choice each time we travel for our first night in Scotland.
There is a bus stop a few hundred feet from the hotel where you can get a bus to the Dalmeny train station or right into Edinburgh.
For anyone who wants to buy food or a forgotten item, there is a Tesco within a five minute walk.

Very Good
Had a modern, spacious room. Location was convenient to airport. Staff was cordial. After expressing a concern with the room, the Manager came to speak with us in person, which we appreciated.
The bathroom had recently been renovated and redesigned for persons with disabilities, i.e., wheelchair, etc. This was a surprise and felt different to us. Bathroom was small, toilet/sink/shower was all one open area. When I went downstairs to inquire at the front desk, I was told hotel was full and we could not be moved to another room. Then the Manager came, explained, and offered to move us to an available room. We had already unpacked, so declined his offer. As I told the manager, we had booked this hotel 7 months prior, which should have been considered versus another guest who may have just recently booked. Only there for one night.

Poor
The hotel is attractive and clean, and the staff were friendly despite some big disappointments.
The hotel touts itself as being convenient to the airport, states that it "offers complimentary shuttle service to Edinburgh Airport," and came up as a hotel with an airport shuttle when I used the filter in booking.com. I specifically booked the Dakota hotel because I was under the impression that it had a shuttle. We visited in July - high season - and were told that the hotel only offers the shuttle when "there's enough demand." When we asked about a voucher to help cover the expensive cab fare that we ended up having to pay, we were told that the hotel does not provide any such thing. So, basically their so-called airport services are completely arbitrary. The experience immediately cast the hotel in a negative light, and we ended up seeing everything in the hotel as a "luxury veneer" behind which we noticed several penny-pinching tactics that are so typical of a capital investment or private equity firm (e.g., queen-sized mattress on a king-sized bed frame (labeled "king room", cheap cabinetry, broken toilet flusher, small glasses for the cocktails + the worst martini olives we've ever tasted). To me, Scotland has written the book on hospitality, but the Dakota completely and utterly failed to meet the very high standards set even in the most modest inns and restaurants we had visited during our stay. Such a disappointing end to our trip.

Great near airport hotel with excellent staff. The AC was not working and the staff agreed and moved us immediately. The food in the restaurant was good and the hotel was quiet. Great price too. Will return again when in Edinburgh

Fair
- Bed/sheets/pillows
- Shower
- Quiet/clean (except behind the tv).
- Breakfast
- Toiletries, finally ones in Scotland that didn't smell like men's cologne! ;).
- Staff was friendly and helpful.
- Air conditioning was efficient and quiet
- The room wifi worked for about 10 minutes and then never worked again.
- Booking/hotel advertises free shuttle but of course it wasn't running when I was there. I requested it ahead of time too and it was one of the reasons I picked this hotel.
- Both big towels had this mildewy smell to them, like they are not washed on a high enough temperature to get smells out of them.
- I went to unplug the tv because of the bright red light and it was really dusty back there as if it wasn't cleaned since installation.
- I had late checkout and still the cleaning lady was banging on my door multiple times while I was in the shower, I had to get out and get in a towel, to tell her and she was annoyed.
- I went to use the gym but the smell of new plastic of all the equipment was so strong I could not stay in there (it should be ventilated better or something).

Spacious room with a sophisticated, understated contemporary look. Public area and adjacent restaurant were open-plan and beautifully designed with striking original art on restaurant walls. All in all a cut above your average airport-area hotel.

Very Comfortable room and beautiful interior in lobby and dining room.
Arrived by bus and entrance to the hotel was rather obscure and dark. Walked totally around the building with luggage before arriving where we started and went in.

Wonderful
Staff was exceptional - very friendly, talkative and smiling. The dark and industrial/rustic quality design touches are upscale, warm, and cozy. Felt very relaxed, safe, and comfortable. After returning home, I received notice of a costly parking citation apparently for my brief(<23min) stop to check-in and carry bags to the room - I reached out via email and they cancelled for me. Yes, there are warning signs but no where else to park due to construction.
Immediately after check-in I drove over to the airport to return my rental car in advance of my flight the next morning. Either the hotel shuttle was not available or they would not go to the SIXT rental area so I had to find a ride back. Just an inconvenience but not enough to dissuade me from booking this hotel again.
