Great location and staff were really helpful and complimentary. I didn’t catch the name but one of the gentlemen were super friendly and made our stay very welcoming
Some aspects of the room seemed a bit outdated and stains on furniture other than that it was up to respectable standard

The room was horrendous and so small and dark it wasn’t serviced the next day at 4.30 when we returned from a day’s excursion All the manager could say was sorry but didn’t offer any solutions. We were not the only people who complained

The only thing that was okay, was the common area / reception. Rooms in poor poor state.
Rooms were in poor state. Heating didn’t work!!! Freezing night one. When I asked at reception the next morning at 7am I was told there was an issue and they are trying to fix it, but to come back at end of day if still an issue and they will give me another room. I came back at 4pm and was told that will bring me an electric heater to plug in at wall as not sure if the heating is fixed yet and could not give me another room. Ultimately later that night the heating seemed to have been fixed….
I was not compensated in anyway, nor did anyone try and find me another room. I was instead left to suffer in cold in a lower basement room for £260 a night.
The bathroom had an “electric heater on the wall”, which also didn’t work as the cable was cut!
Just terrible experience. Super disappointed I didn’t take on board the other reviews….
Carpets were dirty. Was like night and day with the reception and rest of hotel.

Disappointing
Very good location, very pleasant staff, poor facilities, size of bedroom good, but the bed was a small double and was not in good condition. The furniture in the room was old, mis matched , scratched and in poor condition . The room could definitely do with an upgrade. We had breakfast 3 out of 4 days and it was bad, cold food very badly presented . The staff were kind enough to get me poached eggs as the fried eggs were terrible. We left a used tissue in the hallway outside our door and it was still there when we were leaving, this says a lot about the cleaning !!

The location was just below the observatory and up the hill from the train station.
I have NEVER stayed in a more disgusting and scary hotel at any price point. The room I booked for $450 a night looked bright with high ceilings in the pictures online. Instead I was put in a basement room with mold in the tub and behind the wallpaper, the strong smell of mold in the air, low ceilings, wet spongey carpeting, freezing temperatures, and a battered door that did not lock. I did not sleep at all the first night. I begged the manager to offer me a safer, warmer room and they refused. The staff were openly hostile and not at all helpful. I have lodged a complaint with the tourism board as this cannot be a 4-star hotel.

Wonderful
Our room was enormous and tall (~4m ceilings). It was well-designed and comfortable. We loved the views from the hotel and it's location. Staff were really professional: they have ordered us a taxi and sent our postcards. Breakfast was delicious, featuring some parts of typical English breakfast but also some edible things ;))
We were missing a hair dryer in our room. Air conditioning was awaiting technical service so it was unusable. We've had a room separated from the one next to us with double doors, but we've still heard every noise from them, which was kind of creepy~

The hotel was an easy walk to Old Town and the Royal Mile, but far enough away to be in a less crowded, quieter area. The room was spacious, bed was very comfortable, updated bathroom with very nice shower, easy to control temperature of the room. There was canned water, an electric water kettle, coffee pods and tea in the room. The breakfast was excellent with lots of options. Excellent flat whites and lattes from the machines in the dining room. A lovely outside area for relaxing or eating outside when the weather permitted. No problem checking our bags in until our afternoon train. Everything was very clean and nice. Would definitely recommend.

I was originally allocated room 211. This room has the elevator shaft. The shaft took up 50% of the space, and the room had a very noticeable mechanical sound or hum.
After refusing to take the room, l was provided with a standard room.
Room service food quality was very good, and so was breakfast.
The final room is spacious, well appointed, and the bed was really comfortable.
Being allocated a room that, in my opinion, should be a storage room.
New room had signs of damp on the top left of the bed wall. The room service collection was pretty sloppy. the dirty tray was never collected until l notified the concierge - 7 hours.

Room was lovely, spacious and clean.
A concierge who could help book things would have been very helpful and enhanced our stay. We would have liked a book/pack telling us about the hotel and a bit about what to do in the city. The evening meal that we had in the hotel was not very good … although the staff in the bar area were lovely.

The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful! Nothing was ever too much for them and they went above and beyond for us, making our stay memorable!
The rooms are lovely and spacious and the in room amenities are awesome too! We had a coffee machine and lush body washes etc. The girls bought us up a couple of fans too keep us aussies extra cool! My mum uses a mobility aid which we hired and there was no issue with the hotel storing it and charging it overnight.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will miss the fun banter with the staff!

The only downfall of our stay was the breakfast. There is a pretty good buffet on offer but you can’t order porridge or eggs unless you want to pay extra.
