The room was clean and modern, on a lovely residential street near a bus stop and within walking distance of the tram. It was very quiet and safe. Staff was super helpful.
I thought I had restricted my search to hotels with a lift, but apparently not. Cairn does not have a lift.

The location was great!
The room was very small and hard to get around the bed. There was a kettle in the room but no safe place to use it. You either had to plug it in on your nightstand or on a very skinny shelf under the TV near the foot of the bed. This area was also the skinny path needed for walking around the bed. We were constantly reminding each other "watch out the kettle is hot."

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, and there was a water cooker in the room. The location was only a few minutes walk away from Princes Street and Calton Hill.
What was provided by the cleaning staff was inconsistent especially regarding providing a clean mug. The cleaning staff left my room unlocked on one day; leaving my door slightly ajar - unlocked. Thankfully, all my belongings were there when I returned. The breakfast could improve by adding ripe bananas, mandarins, and muesili. Furthermore, the hall floor carpeting especially looked worn out, needing replacement. For the price and the 3 stars, I thought the facilities and breakfast not as good as I expected.

It was a good value for the location.
The rooms were smaller than advertised, and the door to our room was constantly making noise due to its insufficient weight to withstand the foot traffic and external activities. Additionally, the TV’s position was inconvenient for viewing, and the overall facilities could benefit from expansion and updates.

The apartment was very small, and the cleanliness was average at best. It didn’t feel worth the price. During the same trip, I stayed in an apartment booked through Booking on the same street and it was much bigger, more upscale, and cleaner than this hotel, for the same price.

Wonderful
A cozy little hotel in a quiet location, close to the city center. The room was nice — I found the bed extra comfortable, no noise at night at all. It was perfect for a short, solo stay in Edinburgh. It's about 10-15 mins walk from Princes St. Loved everything!
