Disappointing
The staff were genuinely lovely.
It was not very clean. Rugged interior. Very noisy, could hear other guests at night and in the mornings. We stripped the bed before we left to help the cleaners and the mattress was disgusting as we're the pillows. We also could not find the bar? I believe there may not be one. I wouldn't mind any of my above complaints but for the price. It was very very expensive for what you actually get. We walked into the city every day but if you are less mobile I would maybe think twice about the location. We spent more money to treat ourselves to a hotel. We were really disappointed by this hotel.

Easy check in and a 2pm as well which is great. Nice little elevator, friendly staff and a great price. The shower was great, tea and coffee facilities in the room, honesty bar downstairs and a lounge to sit in.
Our room was a bit shabby, showing its age but it was clean and did the job for our one night stay. For the price it was a good deal.

Location was great - all the major parts of the city accessible on foot, parking was available, WiFi was free and strong, place was clean and shower was warm. Tea and coffee was available in the room and there was plenty of storage. Breakfast was available too.
Mattress was very uncomfortable- so soft / worn out I could feel the divan base underneath. TV didn’t receive any channels in spite of being retuned. Window catch was also broken. Everything was tired and felt in need of refreshment. Breakfast quality was variable. We ended up eating elsewhere 3/5 days. I spoke with receptionist about the bed and was informed the whole of the hotel was due a refurbishment in the coming week (29/10/24 as I write)

The staff were smiley and welcoming, location for us was ideal as it was within a 10min walk to the two offices we were visiting. The bed was comfortable.
Overall the hotel was shabby, carpets were old and dirty - dirt ingrained and stained. Furniture was tired and shabby, but not in a chic way - mismatched with plastic chairs. The room was small and felt grimy - I didn't want to touch anything of get my clothes out of my bag, the curtains were falling off of the rail and the bedding was thin and old, needs replacing. There was a damp and unpleasant smell in the communal areas, the "bar" was not a very pleasant place to spend any time. The breakfast was disappointing; gristly sausages and the continental breakfast lacked options and felt cheap and bare minimum.

The location is perfect and close to the old city
Old and poorly maintained rooms full spots on the carpet, black mold in the shower and rusted towel rack, the walls are so thin that you can literally hear people breathing in the room next to you or any other sound!

Good location for Fountainbridge area where we wanted to be. The rooms are basic but they've obviously used upcycled furniture which is good. the breakfast was fantastic for the money. Full Scottish with haggis and tattie scones - my favourites. Bed was comfy and we had a good night's sleep.
The shower head had black on it which could have been mould. The tile grout also needed a good scrub. We didn't use the shower as only there for one night, but I would have complained if I needed to shower.

Pleasant
Good location. Just 20 minutes walk to the castle and Victoria street. Railway station is 10 minutes walk.
Breakfast was really poor. Bed in the room should be replaced
