Absolutely very poor performance hotel! Bed pillows are not comfortable, hotel is very old, carpet must not cleaned for years, dirt along bad smells around, we paid 178 pounds for first night, later have to continue due to no rooms around. Parking is more than 7 per night.

Disappointing
The location of this venue was handy for us, and for easy access via Haymarket station. The riverside was nearby and very nice.
On arrival we were informed there was no housekeeping. If staying multiple days you would have to get fresh towels etc from reception and bins would not not emptied unless you empty them and leave rubbish at the door of your room - for the money, this lack of service felt quite extreme.
We were chased by email to check-in online, only to discover that we still had to check in in-person and that the online system didn't actually do anything.
We paid extra for a window, as this was an 'upgrade feature'. Our window was a view right out to the road/junction directly at the entrance to the street - this meant the upgrade feature wasn't even a view, and we had to keep the curtains closed at all times or be openly visible from the street. It also meant all cars and walking pedestrians passed the window.
The room was very basic. The sockets were minimal and not in convenient places and it just felt quite dated. The corridors were quite smelly - it was like someone had been smoking weed in a nearby room.

The hotels location was the only positive about this hotel.
It was filthy, the room stunk, the bed clothes did not smell clean and the room and corridors just looked appalling. This hotel was therefore way overpriced for what was offered and this needs telling any future customers... it's more a hostel looking at some of the clientele rather than a hotel!

The location was good. Parking was reasonably priced.
The hotel needs a LOT of money and TLC spent on it. Our room was in need of maintenance upgrade with a headboard not fixed to wall. There was a bucket permanently in the corridor to collect dripping water. The carpet is threadbare in places, and the decor needs updating. Only two lifts worked and were always full and took a while to get one. The staff appeared completely miserable and, when asked for something, it seemed too much like hard work for them. Breakfast was poor- caked in grease and fat. Other guests had also complained about various problems too I understand. Whilst it was one of the cheaper hotels, I assume you get what you pay for. We won’t be returning.

Absolutely pathetic experience. I am surprised that they are still doing business. Prime area and photos on the net was the reason I stupidly chose this hotel. Never . They charged me 176£ which was not worth more than 50£. Early morning 10 am someone knocked the door to vacate the room. Absolutely horrible experience

The breakfast was good - I was able to test typical british breakfast items like beans, eggs, sausage, etc. Coffee was good.
The location is generally good, because it is walkable even though you still need half an hour to reach the city center.
A mop in the bathrooms. The windows are locked from opening; it would be good if it was possible to open them even a little bit in order to get some clean air, especially in the morning. Also the LG rooms have a lot of moisture and not very good ventilation.

The staff are an absolute asset to this hotel. Everyone is working hard and beyond what they are expected to keep this hotel running. A real credit to the place. In every department that we encountered.
Where to start.... The hotel is so tired. Can tell money is not invested to keep the hotel tidy, even the basics are bodged. The management must cream the profits because nothing is returned back in investment. The rooms are tired, and the breakfast is limited. And considering it's Scotland lacks Scottish breakfast items. The room really wasn't value for money either. It's not central, so if you can't walk you will need to get a taxi or Uber. It's not too bad location wise, but it's not in the heart of it all. Shame as I think once it was a grand hotel, and it gets the turn over off customers. So no reason why maintenance can't be invested into. Oh and we stayed for 5 days and not once had housekeeping. I don't want my bed changing, but a bin emptied and the toilet roll restocked surely should be a must....?

There was no warning that it would sound ligh all the drainage for the above floors ran through pipes in the ceiling and wall. Deafening all night

The staff in restaurant obnoxious & ignorant, the food was poor quality & dont ask for any more as the look off the staff is awful.The bathroom was dirty with people's hair in the bath& on the handles,the bed was stained & very uncomfortable.
The carpet smelt of urine.
