The hotel is in a great location on a main bus route and in a lovely area close to shops, pubs and restaurants - there is open park land across the road. We were able to park our car in the hotel car park which was a great convenience. We found the hotel quiet and comfortable and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was particularly good with lots of choice and great quality. The hotel is dog friendly which was very important to us.

Lovely looking hotel and staff, good food, especially good choice of food for breakfast.
Comfortable bed
I didn’t realise our room was so close to a busy road, constant traffic noise, eased off a bit at night but if you’re a light sleeper take some ear plugs. Also someone in the room above me was talking on their phone throughout the night and into the early hours, so the first night I only got 4 hrs sleep.
The trim at the bottom of the shower screen was very mucky and needs replacing, quite a bit of dust on the surfaces too.

The location was great. Room was spacious and lift to every floor. The staff were very nice and helpful. Bathroom was lovely and clean.
We found the bed mattress was very soft and don't understand why a twin room has only one chair for it's guests.
Within the closet space, we discussed that some guests would not be able to reach things like the safe which was low and the water and biscuits which were high up. Some guests would not like the QR code phone instead of a real one.
The room also could benefit from painting, there were many scuff marks and stains here and there.
For the price we felt it wasn't good value, a breakfast included would have been more worthwhile.

Nice hotel. Nice meal served in the outdoor garden area. Welcome water and Tunnocks Tea Cakes on arrival.
Very dour staff on reception. No friendly smile or hello. No update on what she was taking the time over during check-in. It appeared that she had been logged out and needed to log back in again. Would have been nice if she could have explained this instead of saying nothing, ignoring us and proceeding to just leave us standing for ages. Not at all cheerful when conversing. Rooms were nice but on the small side. Ridiculous price for the room. Would definitely expect friendlier, more helpful service from reception staff.
