Very Poor
Location and breakfast were both good
My room didn't have any working blinds, no sleep and no privacy, staff were not helpful and other customers were also complaining about the facilities

Poor
The location is fantastic, even better if you can get a room with a nice view..
Staff where very friendly and attentive.
We stayed here a few years back for my partners birthday and everything was just perfect, nothing could have been better.
So we came back again for her birthday this year. when i phoned to add a couple of extras to the room , i mentioned what room we stayed in last time and was told that we could have that room again, fantastic so i thought, we didnt get that room when we arrived, which wasn't a big deal.
I asked for a bottle or prosecco and some chocolate and strawberries, i was happy to pay for this but £36 for a bottle of prosecco worth max £20 (disgusting) also had a bunch of flowers delivered on the day of arrival, i rang the hotel to ask if they could put the flowers in the room before we arrived, all confirmed, when we arrived the flowers where still in the box behind the reception.
But give the girl credit she made an excuse, said the room service was running late, so gave us a complimentary coffee, while they sneakily set the flowers up in the room. Was a nice touch with some sweets and a happy birthday msg in chocolate on a plate.
Unfortunately things just wasnt the same from our last stay, in this case the room was well below par,
Pillows on the bed had horrible stains on them, which where changed, the quilt was not a quilt but was 2 matress protectors zipped together and put in an oversized quilt cover, did the job apart from you could feel the chunky zip through the cover, if it was winter this wouldn't have done.
The headboard had all the vinyl covering peeling off, wallpaper was peeling off the walls.
Shower was weak and above the bath, the shower screen never had a seal at the bottom so you flooded the floor and toilet seat when showering, the bath was that narrow you was forever securing your footing even with the supplied slip mat.
We had an evening meal first night and it was really nice and my partner was given complimentary drink for her birthday.

Wonderful
Beautiful building and very friendly helpful staff. Good bus links into the centre.
My only very small suggestion would be to replace the blinds, I cant speak for all the rooms but ours were very thin and one wasnt wide enough for the window so as soon as the sun rose the room was very light.

Very Good
It was in a lovely setting! It felt pleasant. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The building had a pleasant feel, and there’s some nice greenery nearby. Also it’s wonderfully quiet!
The hotel is a little tired, but is still great at the price. I think the breakfast rate was a little high. There was no air conditioning in my room, but the window did open so it was still possible to control the temp s little.

Lovely staff, warm welcome, nice atmosphere clean room, comfortable beds nice bathroom, nice view and a quiet night's sleep.Great location for us as close to family in Morningside.
Good value . We will definitely be returning as this offered everything we need when visiting family.
We liked most aspects of this hotel. The decor is a bit tired in places , but that's not enough to put us off returning.

Exceptional
We are frequent guests and have been these past few years.
The Braid Hills Staff are so welcoming and the atmosphere always comfortable and welcoming.
As my husband and myself are starting to age a little we would welcome the installation of a lift perhaps within the Hotel? We are starting to find the climb up to our often second or third floor rooms rather difficult. This has nothing to do with the lovely Staff just the building itself.

Great hotel and staff, stayed here many times. Good location.
Wine is too expensive and service charge on restaurant now 12.5%. But other than that all was great.

Very Good
Warm comfortable room. Clean bathroom. Quiet setting. Ample breakfast.
Nothing to complain about really.
It would have been nice to have had a phone in the room tocall reception, although I could have used my mobile I suppose.
There were a couple of stains on the wallpaper but no evidence of unresolved leaks or damp.
