Relatively good location, nice surroundings, friendly staff, and good food available atthe hotel's restaurant.
The hotel's decoration and interior would certainly need refreshing, the windows in our room too, the breakfast was good, but the options were slightly limited, and globally the hotel's rooms were quite expensive, but it was still the best option given the outrageous prices of other hotels in Edinburgh

The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was okay.
Not great for mobility issues. Had to carry our luggage up 3 flights of stairs. No help. Flashing light in bathroom they said would be fixed upon our return from the day which was not. Plug outlet hanging out of wall. Not safe. Arrived late due to a delay in our aircraft nothing open for us to get food. Told by the receptionist to use the app to order food. Our first time in Edinburgh asked what app and she replied with "you know the app". Needless to say we had no dinner that night. Not really in walking distance to, too much had to use there bus system. The bus is close but the hidden stairs are not labeled which makes getting to the bus much easier. Beautiful old hotel in some ways but certainly not worth the money.

Booked this bc I needed one cheap night at the end of my trip, knew it’d be kinda crappy based on reviews, and it was. As others have said, it’s as though they’ve been told not to help with luggage. I’m young and strong so it was fine but I saw some older people struggling and helped them myself. Bed was pretty crappy. Room not cleaned: stained duvet, trash in the bathroom.

Wonderful
The location is brilliant for exploring the city. It's close enough without the hassle of driving the car right into the centre. The bus network in Edinburgh is brilliant, with buses every few mins passing right by the hotel.
The plumbing was a little bit noisy.

Old dated room, headboard had chips of paint off his where people heads had rubbed at it. Scabby old blind. Expensive for a scabby room above member bar
