Comfy bedding, nice restaurant and area.
Cobwebs on ceiling and walls, tv was about 8ft high up on the wall so couldn’t watch it at all, shower isn’t sealed so bathroom floor gets wet through, no toilet brush.

Location was good for us visiting relatives, staff very helpful. Reception and bar area very nice
The room was allocated as we expressed not a lot of stairs. Large room,
Layout was not good for comfort. The headboard was ripped

The staff are amazing, the Irish Woman at reception especially, she greeted me with a smile as she recognised me from another recent stay and wished me a merry Christmas when I left.
I was also able to get into my room earlier than expected to drop my luggage off before heading into town. The Hotel is well placed for getting buses into town.
The Bar and Restaurant staff were all friendly, greeting customers with a smile too :)
There wasnt anything I didnt like at the Hotel, I have stayed quite a few times and always found it great

The Braid is a nice old building well located at the bottom of Morningside so walkable to bars/restaurants but on a main bus route into the city centre. Plenty of car parking and reasonable bar facilities. Staff appear to run the place efficiently enough.
Biggest issue is the rooms - they're just tired and in need of a good overhaul. Paint peeling of skirting boards, worn headboards with bits of material flaking off onto the pillows. A bit grim.
Breakfast is a bit of a bun fight with the usual self service scrum, queues for the toasting machine and the quality of the cooked food was pretty average.
