Poor
Lovely clean and fresh bedding and towels, but that is where it ended, oh, except the staff, they were all lovely.
The breakfast was decent too.
The bedroom carped was like a warped old rag, the headboard had been 'repaired' with some nasty sticky back plastic, the bedside light shade had been completely broken off and was left balancing on the frame.
Also the shower trap was broken and just left in situ, so when it was moved an nasty screw was left exposed, right underfoot

Wonderful
It was clean and the breakfast was delicious. The location was a little ways out of town, but there was easy access to public transportation to get where you need. The view was great, a view over outskirts of the city. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
The amount of stairs was a bit of a knock out, but it was great preparation for the city!

Location and ambiance. Great free wi fi and parking. Good comfy beds and shower with lots of hot water.
Some interiors are a little faded, but the hotel is upgrading things systematically..

Good location for me. Also staff had put a little shrine to Magnus (cat, hotel visitor) in reception.
The fact that Magnus (cat, hotel visitor) had died since last visit.

The room and hotel were gorgeous. It was only a 15 minute taxi drive to the center of Edinburgh.

Staff were really nice. Great location outside of the city centre.
Unfortunately there is no lift, which makes having a large suitcase difficult.

I really like the peace and quiet and ease of parking at this traditional hotel despite being close to city centre . The ease of access to buses for work is also good. The breakfast is good and plentiful, rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff are also very helpful and friendly . I heater in the large room I had as it was still cold weather when I stayed.
Unfortunately, I had a problem with the hot water and could not take a warm shower before work in the spacious bathroom . Staff at reception were very apologetic. I was in a large cottage type building adjacent to the hotel so I suspect it was not a universal issue.

Great breakfast. Dinner was good too. The staff was generally responsive.
Some staff struggled to understand English. Our room's heater didn't work so they gave us an electric space heater. We noticed several adjacent rooms also had the space heaters. The location is just okay - it's a healthy walk to shopping or restaurants, or a bus ride.

Looks lovely from the outside. Warm inside. The staff (that can speak English) are very friendly and helpful. Convenient location for getting the bus into town.
Very dated. The rooms are sub standard and in a poor state of maintenance. The cost of drinks at the bar is extortionate and clearly setup to take advantage of international tourists.
