Good
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The photos of the hotel did not match reality. The hotel is much more dated and in disrepair than the pictures show.

The breakfast and staff on hand were great. The front desk was also amazing at helping us with recommendations when asked.
The room didn't have a mini fridge so that made storing suff difficult.

All is great! The breakfast is a great buffet. Lots to choose from.
They have a house cat that wonders around. My wife is very allergic. Wish they would take allergies into consideration and not allowing the cat to roam freely throughout. Rooms are too cold. The radiator does not warm up the room at all.

A beautiful building and although it's a little way out of the city it was excellent value for money in the expensive Edinburgh area. An excellent bar and restaurant meant everything was at your fingertips, and the staff were helpful and friendly.
Rooms are a bit on the small side.

Beautiful old hotel full of elegance and charm. Located across a beautiful park and right beside the bus stop.

Good
The location is nicely accesible by car and the bus stops right in front of it. Staff is friendly and they have a lovely cat in the lobby. Breakfast was ok quality. Room was spacious, silent and clean. Slept alright in the bed.
The room and dining area could use a facelift. It feels a bit old, wallpaper hanging off and light from the hallway shining through the doorframe. Had to block it with pillows.

We enjoyed our stay of 4 nights. It was my girlfriend's birthday trip so the staff organised a bottle of prosecco and little pastries for her as a surprise which we both really enjoyed.

Room was very spacious and comfortable!
The anti-slip mat for the tub had mold all over the underneath where the suction cups are.

Old Victorian charm.
Convenient to bus service, but just a bit too far outside of Edinburgh Center City.

The historic hotel was beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. The food was delicious and we were able to catch the nearby local bus into the Edinburgh City Center.
My mom missed having a lift as her bag was big but I carried it up for her. : )

They had a fan in the room! As a spoiled American, I need that air flow, so that was super dope!

Fair
The location was great and having parking was a huge consideration. The food for breakfast was good, but the coffee was warm not hot. The service in the dining room and bar was excellent. The outside deck was quite nice as the weather was delightful. The bathroom was nice and modern.
Our room was extremely hot. We were placed on the 3rd floor with a southern exposure with no fan. Then we were moved to the 2nd floor where the room temperature was better but still quite hot and our room had a view of the dumpster. Also, we did not have a refrigerator which we had requested. The key cards did not work and we had to get new key cards 3 times. The walk to our room was up several stairs and a long corridor. The rugs were worn in the hallway and on the stairs. For the price, I expected better quality.

We chose this inn for it's castle-like feel--rather than booking a generic flat or motel. It worked well for inspiring envy. A nicely photogenic venue. Lovely views from my window.
We had dinner at the inn, and it was a treat. Included breakfasts were convenient and tasty.
Best bathtub I've *ever* used was in my room.
We walked into the city center both touring days and had to get a taxi back. We spent much of our energy just walking to the historic part of town.
Family members in the other room complained that their room was shabbier and showing wear.

Wonderful
I loved our family room! Two twins in the main room then a full bed in the loft up the stairs. Private deck was also a nice addition.
The bed was not soft at all.
