Fair
Good location, friendly staff
Wallpaper peeling, poor water pressure, could hear people in the room next door clearly. Needs upgrading.

Good
They didn't have a lift while I had heavy luggage, and it was quite far from the city centre
The balcony view

Wonderful
The property is very close to the centre. The bus stop is just in the closed vicinity with the hotel. The hotel was cleaned and good for spending the night before our journey back home.
I didn’t like the breakfast very little choice for a breakfast. Bananas was overripe and the croissants were stale.

Pleasant
Nice hotel, good location for our purpose.
The water pressure in the shower is reduced to levels that are below useful.

Wonderful
location is far away from the tours attraction, No any Restaurant near by, only the hotel restaurant and bar, it was good the price we paid included breakfast, otherwise we might have to get the taxi to find a restaurant for breakfast.
over all , Braid Hill hotel was good, the staff was very helpful, it just the location are bit far away and the whole road is no restaurant or coffee shop, but the hotel area is very peaceful and quiet also opposite of the park and the bus stop near by . it was the first time for us to go to Scotland Edinburgh, after we stay at Braid hill a few nights, we like it there.
the whole area is No restaurant and No shops ,No Coffee shop .

Disappointing
I’ve been to Braids Hill annually for 10 years and the main advantage is its proximity to the relevant part of the university and value for money.
Sadly over the decade I’ve seen this hotel decline in every respect - dull rooms, terrible decor and reliance on huge tour groups which arrive daily and overwhelm the lobby, bar and dining areas. This year, for the first time, breakfast was served not in the usual daily decent dining areas with views but in a back room poorly suited for the large crowd of tourists groups. We were relegated to a distant room on the third floor with no pictures or artwork just dowdy wallpaper, the water pressure was minimal and it took ages to get hot water at 8 am. The room has a desk but no power sockets anywhere near. The bed was poorly placed with respect to lower sockets. The whole arrangement of the room was terrible - yes it’s cheaper than Bruntsfield but a miserable experience. Not recommended for independent travelers.

Wonderful
Gorgeous Victorian hotel with real character. Fantastic location - and easy walk to the old town, with plenty of excellent buses too.
Spacious, well-appointed rooms with very comfortable beds.
Plenty of free parking.
Stunning views across the city, great sunsets, nearby walks in the Braid Valley park.
It was hot - why were some of the radiators on in a heatwave!
Some areas looked a bit tired - but maintaining such an old, rambling property must be a never-ending job.

Very Good
Great location, welcoming staff, comfortable room and lovely breakfast.
Coffee choice at breakfast too basic - most hotels now have a machine to allow selection of coffees.

Poor
Perfect location, chosen as near family and friends. (Couldn’t have booked more in advance, as was in the area to attend a funeral.)
No problem with cleanliness.
A few of the staff very pleasant.
Outside terrace for sitting out.
Not as expected for (approx)£199.00 per night!
Staff as above, but most very ‘remote’ and disinterested.
Room was woefully cramped for two people - as if for one originally, but double sets of towels had been put in. Fan provided, but was still stuffy. Facilities basic and because of where they had to be placed near the single window, drawing the curtains was difficult. Wardrobe door stuck on one side. Again, because of lack of space, only one chair to sit on.
Menu ok, but had expected greater choice.
Told the hotel is being refurbished - certainly long overdue. Inside public areas all very gloomy.

Pleasant
Good location and friendly staff at reception.
Our room was a bit run down but fine for a 1 night stay.
