Very Good
Convenient location for us in a pleasant area with good access & transport links to city centre. Staff very helpful, great breakfast & lots of parking on site.
Room was very warm.

Wonderful
Having stayed before we knew the hotel, and therefore chose for location and parking. The hotel feels comfortable and nice bar area. And weather permitting? sitting area outside with great views...
Staff helpful and friendly, a special mention to Izzy.... ( reception)..
everything was good... met our expectations.. Only snag was that we had requested a " specific" room, and although had written confirmation to agree, the room was not available. However it was managed with a apology and a smile and not really an issue... and an upgrade... thanks..

Disappointing
Room too small. Carpet repairs. Carpet needs changing.

Good
The staff were very helpful & friendly.
The food was excellent- we entertained the family twice whilst there & the meals were very well presented and well cooked.
The towels were changed daily & the bathroom was very clean
The bed was comfortable
There was no 'Grab' rail over the bath/shower which made getting in & out of the shower/bath very difficult & dangerous for people of our age group i.e. 80s
The carpets were very old and threadbare throughout & especially on the stairs. The staircase bannisters were very dirty.
The hotel was very hot in the bedrooms & no air con available

Exceptional
The historic hotel was beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. The food was delicious and we were able to catch the nearby local bus into the Edinburgh City Center.
My mom missed having a lift as her bag was big but I carried it up for her. : )

Old Victorian charm.
Convenient to bus service, but just a bit too far outside of Edinburgh Center City.

Good
Onsite parking which is a must for Edinburgh as it's expensive to park, staff were lovely and very helpful. Even gave us a niche cable when we left ours at home.
Breakfast was spot on, it was continental but was actually pretty tasty for a hotel.
Overall this hotel is actually really lovely and we will definitely be staying here again in the future!
We were on the top floor which wasn't ideal as I have a disability and heavy luggage
Had a do not disturb sign on the door but the cleaners were pretty loud outside whilst my husband was trying to sleep as we were travelling back late in the night

What a charming hotel ! Our whole stay was just amazing! The restaurant food was excellent & very reasonably priced & our room was spotlessly clean & very comfortable. We parked the car up & used the bus to get around Edinburgh. The bus stop is literally minutes from the hotel & runs every 15 mins & takes you straight into the centre of Edinburgh.
Ok so the hotel is looking a bit threadbare in parts but to be honest, for us, it just added to the lovely atmosphere of a beautiful old building!

Amazing hotel easy bus straight to Edinburgh city center just outside
Beds were a little uncomfortable and the pillows were like sleeping on cinder blocks

Good
The staff was really friendly and the room was quite spacious and very clean. The location is pretty good as there are direct buses into the city center.
The hotel facilities could use some refurbishment. Our room was located near a boiler room, which was quite noisy in the evening and above the kitchen, which let in food odours. It was quite hot as well in the room.
