Pleasant
The building, the staircase with beautiful decorations. Friendly staff.
Overall the staff was very friendly and helpful. We for two nights and the first breakfast wasn’t a nice experience. We came downstairs around 9.30am so it is reasonable time at Sunday morning when you want to rest and relax during your weekend away. All what was available was a 3 pieces of bacon and 2 eggs for like 7 people who came at the same time as us. We needed to wait but that wasn’t a big problem as the staff eventually picked it up and started moving quickly to fill up the trays.
When we were waiting I put a croissant into the toaster which was huge, the hotel one and waited for it. The young blonde receptionist who wasn’t really welcoming a night before when we arrived, came out and made a comment how stupid it was , that I could burn ait and cause a fire, I don’t know how come as if you put a bread there and you watch it it should be fine, and it was. Even so it could be said much nicer way. I didn’t even commented that the English breakfast wasn’t available at that moment group of guests had to wait hence I was preparing something instead. I didn’t want to argue to waist my energy, it supposed to be our lovely weekend away. Her attitude throughout our stay hasn’t change. Any other staff member was lovely, when we run of milk in our room the lovely cleaner brought us more milk with a big smile and kindness. Overall, the room was spacious, the breakfast good and the building beautiful. We just avoided reception.

Disappointing
Location was good into town from right outside.
We were visiting family nearby and could walk there and back easily.
Room was cold, we had to get heater out. Tea, coffee, milk - barely enough to have a drink before bed and one the morning although reception did give us extra. Breakfast not the greatest, eggs very oily and like rubber. Uninviting.

Good
Was not expecting too much from the hotel as was quite cheap for the location. Overall it was ok and fine for the one night we were straying.
A few things let it down, the TV signal was so bad that it was impossible to watch the TV, radiator in room did not work so was replaced by small plug in heater, overall the decor was very tired and would really benefit from a lick of paint. Staff member said "who checks in this late" when we arrived (at 8.50pm), not sure or not if she thought we were out of hearing distance when she said it. We had already dropped by earlier in the day to say we would be checking in later and that was ok with them.

Pleasant
Good position and excellent staff.
Had booked a deluxe double but v small compared to photos given of this type of room and room v tired. A big let down as it was basic and worn.
Room and hotel v hot.

Wonderful
Great location for walking the seven hills of Edinburgh. Right on main bus routes in to the city centre so no need for a car.
Warm spacious room; comfortable bed and good hot shower.
Had dinner one night in the restaurant which was very good. Breakfast a pretty standard affair but no porridge on offer though was enough choice to set you up for the day. Overall, a very good few days’ stay.

Poor
Not much, tatty
The room did not match the price and description shown on the web booking (views, double bed).
The EV charger’s QR payment didn’t work. The charger states that if QR fails, an alternative payment method is available at reception. Reception refused, saying it wasn’t the hotel’s business, despite the charger being on your premises.

Wonderful
The hotel is in a good location just on the outskirts of the city with a 10 to 15 minutes drive into Edinburgh. Breakfast was nice and the staff are fantastic. The room was lovely and facilities are modern and clean.
The bed was a little uncomfortable and pillows were slightly flat

Fair
Great location, breakfast good choice, staff friendly, links into city centre great.
Allergen information lacking as products wrongly labelled. Room in bad state, in need of immediate make over, reception lounge furniture dirty, and ceiling in need of decorating. Access to certain rooms takes you through the function room, lack of housekeeping trolley as laundry left on furniture or radiator screens ready for rooms to be made up.

We absolutely loved our stay at this lively hotel! Our room was spotless, cosy, and beautifully kept.
The location was convenient, with a bus stop just a short walk away!
The buffet was outstanding, offering a fantastic full English breakfast with so many options. Everything was fresh, delicious, and you could help yourself to as much as you wanted.
Overall, we had such a positive experience and would definitely recommend this hotel!
