Disappointing
Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly enough
Shower was decent.
Old dated room, headboard had chips of paint off his where people heads had rubbed at it. Scabby old blind. Expensive for a scabby room above member bar

Lovely big clean room with a great view
Breakfast around banqueting tables... a little uncomfortable eating with strangers.

Good
Lovely location (has its own bus stop) with a view on top of a hill (hence the name), and very polite staff. Kettle & coffee filled up every day which was nice.
The hotel is quite old, and since Edinburgh was experiencing a heatwave, the room was stuffy and quite hot. The mattress seems quite old, and the pillows are thin. You could also hear all the neighbours, slamming their doors.

Room upgrade was nice
Ordered a cocktail and they couldn’t make it, so ordered a Chardonnay and received a red wine. Ordered a meal that never came. We waited for an hour before they realised

Charming hotel with a convenient bus connection into town.
We had a bit of an outdated room. Forget the shower.

The location. It was perfect, 30 minutes from center of Edinburgh with bus no11 or 16. Staff was friendly and helpfull.
The room we had was stifle and hot ( end of may). And the stairs to second floor challenging with 16 kg heavy suitcase

Pleasant
Room was well appointed.
Fairly restricted GF options on the menu, but what I had was good. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues, lots and lots of stairs and no lift.

Very Good
Comfortable beds, accommodating staff, delicious breakfast, most excellent view of Edinburgh from room 308.
No air conditioning (which was fine), but the staff had the heat on. It was intolerably stuffy and warm in the rooms (esp after dragging all our luggage up to the third floor). There is no elevator / lift, could be a challenge for anyone disabled. They did provide a fan which was a great help. Bathroom was very cramped.

Wonderful
Staff very friendly, nice bar, good price,
Ample parking and free
Bus right outside the hotel into city (which was my reason for choosing)
Food in evening was good
Breakfast was a bit slow
Buffett style but the staff did not keep on top of it. Often had to wait for fresh eggs and told a 20 min wait for Croissant’s
NO LIFT and lots of steps, although only a couple of levels there were several up and downs along long corridors, so if you have mobility issues, definitely request ground floor room. However the staff did help with our cases Thank you

The location was great. It was very easy to hop on a local bus and get to the city centre. I to mention the building was very nice.
There wasn’t any lifts in the property. Had to climb to 3rd floor every time. For people who needs elevator, it’s a down side.

Pleasant
Close ro the centre but still quiet area
Good breakfast, friendly staff, single bed is still a good size.
It was a bit dusty, rubbish under the airm chair, and a big chunk of hair blocked the shower drain.
