The staff were extremely helpful, very friendly and approachable. The room and the hotel in general was very clean and warm. The breakfast was excellent. The service (and cocktails!) at the bar were excellent to.

I was so impressed with the staff and level of care they demonstrated. We stayed on the night of the 9th and the duty manager that night was amazing. We had a problem with a locked bathroom door with someone on the Inside unable to get out. The duty manager was right on it and was at our hotel door in mins with people to help. They were all so kind and understanding and discreet too. The door was opened quickly. We were just so impressed. The stay was lovely even the day staff were cheery and so nice too. I enjoyed our stay so much we will be back. Thank you so much for all your help. I cannot thank those three people who help us.

Well situated and a very nice clean hotel
All staff very helpful and friendly especially the Manager who dealt with an issue I had very professionally

Great location in Grassmarket. The beds are extremely comfy.
There was no shower gel in my room and when I arrived the bedroom window was open (middle of December) and it was absolutely freezing.

Location and staff were great
The rooms are nice, good size, comfy bed, with everything you need, but need a deep clean. Didn’t smell fresh.
Bedside tables were sticky where people before us had drinks etc and they just hadn’t been cleaned. Curtains etc smelled, and I wasn’t sniffing, I was looking out the window at the gorgeous castle view and noticed it!
The lifts need work, buttons broken, and the general lift reception area needed a good clean, I wouldn’t sit on the sofas that were there. They’ve seen better days.
