Very Good
It was a nice room in a nice location. Sitting on the hotel's pontoon on the river having a cool one in the afternoon sun was delightful. Was ideally located for walks along the river and the park and was an easy distance into town. The bed was very comfortable and the room wasn't noisy considering it's behind a pub and next to the rowing club, etc
We were there in August and the room was so hot we honestly thought the heating had been turned on by accident. There was a fan, but it made next to no difference. It's because the rooms are glass-fronted. Luckily, we were upstairs so could open doors both ends of the room to cool it a little. Downstairs rooms only have 1 door, though, and the people we spoke to in one were very uncomfortable. Also, rooms are literally in the carpark. I think I thought they'd be more on the water. We only had a river glimpse from our upstairs room. And our shower was a bit moldy. This probably reads worse than it was, though.

Very Good
Nice location on the river and short walk to the city center
The shower wasn’t very clean and it was noisy in the evening with people coming and going from the restaurant.

Disappointing
The location. It was near everything
The view of the carpark wasn't very nice. The room had cobwebs and it was a bit tired in places. The service at the bar was very poor and it was the same at breakfast. I had to ask for fresh juice to be filled and fruit then I was stood there for 5 minutes waiting.

Wonderful
Excellent location.
Comfortable, peaceful bedroom.
Tables overlooking the river. Good menu.
Able to walk by the river to the stop for the tour bus which took us back to the railway station.
'Riverside Rooms' is a misleading name.
Actually overlooking a car park!
Only one bedside table.
The room was very hot on arrival.

Wonderful
Location. Staff
Bar service .. having to order at the bar and there was only one person working. There should have been 2. It was busy. We had the steak Diane. It was lacking in presentation. Big plate piece of meat maybe 6 oz. And a container of fries. No vegetable or color. Very blah in appearance.

Good
The breakfast was very good and staff very friendly.
The beedroom was a bit of a disappointment as there was no bedside cabinet on my wifes side and it was hard for her to get out of bed in the night due to the TV sticking out of the wall.
We paid £150 per night and our friends paid £100 for the night!!!

Fair
Location was ideal and evening food was good
No plug in sink (why wasn't this found when the room was cleaned/prepared), bathroom fittings loose (flush + toilet roll holder), shower sealant had signs of mold, too warm without air conditioning

I loved the location, being situated on the River Dee is perfect! We walked everywhere, along the River and through lovely gardens, on the ancient wall, to the historic racetrack, to the cathedral, amphitheater, restaurants and pubs. We felt very safe. It was great watching boaters on the river, morning and evening. The room was nice size, very clean with comfortable bed. Breakfast was tasty with nice variety, we had dinner at the restaurant twice also, very convenient. We had a car so onsite parking is a huge plus. Every staff member was pleasant and helpful, no exceptions. Chester is beautiful and I would definitely choose to stay at The Boathouse again.
We arrived at a busy time of day for the restaurant so the parking lot was full. We didn’t have to wait long for a space and after that on subsequent days we had no trouble at all with parking. A shelf in the shower would be convenient.
