We stayed in the annex next to the canal. The room was large, warm and comfortable. The walk in shower was excellent. The bed was the most comfortable we had slept in on our two week driving tour. The food served in the pub was very good. We had a lovely dinner and breakfast. The service was polite and sharp. The staff were excellent. Super value for money.
There wasn’t anything not to like!

This was our 2nd stay at the Cheshire Cat , it's location is perfect and sits on the edge of a lovely Canal. You can walk along it into Chester in 40 minutes or go to the local park and ride into Chester, which takes 10 minutes.

Wonderful
When we got to the Cheshire Cat the service from everyone was friendly and efficient.
You need to do something about Google maps which are not accurate at all. We ended up in the wrong village we had to find a local shop and ask.
The person who wrote instructions said it was not the first time she had to explain that it was in a different VILLAGE several miles further north.
Is the post code you give covering a very wide area???

Good location. Rooms clean, tidy, well maintained. Restaurant was excellent and food was delicious. Waiting staff very attentive and helpful.
Room was quite hot at night even though we are only April. We could open the window but we were in an annex upstairs that was quite warm. There was a fan in the room so expect it gets very hot in summer.

Lovely location right on the canal, nice garden and comfortable room and bed. Enjoyed the bar snacks and evening dinner. Lucky to have excellent weather and a pleasant walk into Chester.
Breakfast was a disappointment, limited selection of cereals, no fruit, yogurts or jams on display and toast was brought without butter.

Place was lovely right by the canal and the room was lovely, away from the main pub.
The floor in the room above ours was horrendously squeaky!
The mattress was very hard and the pillows were not great.

Wonderful
The pub had a great feel to it. With locals, people staying and walkers. Lots of different areas to eat and drink in. Staff were polite. My toddler was also very welcome.
Food was disappointing. Breakfast was not great. My poached eggs were rock hard and no butter for toast, I had to ask for butter which was rock hard on my cold toast. Dinner was ok but felt like the chef didn’t put much love into it. The venue and menu looked great but it was as if they had agency chefs in as the food didn’t match the menus description. The manager did refund us for our breakfast and handled my complaint well.

The housekeeping accommodated the kids even though we never saw them. Our kids refused to sleep next to each other but returned to our room to find housekeeping had tucked in their teddies in a sort of quilt sleeping bag. So cute, really memorable & sweet. Very clean and well tidied.
The pub underneath wasn't a problem sound wise, we ate there too, it's alongside a pleasant walking route, very dog friendly which was charming. Also easy to park.
Breakfast options a bit bland especially for any dietary preferences. It's outside of Chester center. I imagine it's not as pleasant to stay if the weather is off.
