Wonderful
Lovely historic country hotel with a great location. Beautiful gardens with plenty of seating. Dinner was fabulous in the restaurant. Rooms were comfy and cute. We had a fabulous stay
Room was rather hot with a very small window. The staff could be a little happier in their work.

Pleasant
The location is lovely
The room is a bit basic and some of the staff lacked the warmth required for a country pub. The bed and pillows arent very comfy and the shower head was spraying out of the top which i had to fix myself.

Disappointing
We have stayed here in the past, great location, beautiful rooms, fabulous pub-in the past
We were not aware of the new ownership, the team were not professional, seemed not to be working as a team and not well trained or supported. The garden was dirty, the tables not clean, many orders we overheard were incorrectly delivered, customers left unhappy.

Very Good
Room was comfortable and the staff were great.
Overpriced, probably because of Chester Races.

Disappointing
Location by canal was okay for a short walk.
A little tired, greeted by a member of staff, obviously trained by Basil Fawlty!! Others were really nice, but this guy was hopeless
