Fairly central & we didn’t hear the trains. Lovely building which obviously was grand in its time but ……….
All areas need an update to the once grand hotel to bring it up to date. Reception staff could be a little bit friendlier instead of being so robotic. Our room certainly needed some home touches, the wallpaper was ripped, the shower head was really badly cracked, no water placed in the room, pillows terrible, bathroom could have been cleaner, daily housekeeping not up to scratch, toilet rolls not replaced sufficiently, toilet not wiped round together with wash basin & areas with cobwebs in the bedroom.

Although the quality of the breakfast was good the food was cold
Food kept hotter.
Better selection of wine in the bar.
The bath did not have any grab rails to assist getting in and out.

Room (executive double) was clean, quiet (7th floor) and comfortable. Right opposite the train station - perfect location. Staff were very hospitable. Breakfast was excellent!
We had a deli sandwich for lunch which was disappointing.

Everything really. We didn't see much of the original building since we were in the newest block but what we did see is lovely and the new block we were in was smart, clean and lovely to stay in. The outdoor areas were really nice too.
Can't think of anything. Some of the pictures weren't to our taste but that's just personal taste anyway

Disappointing
The ease of car parking all though expensive, and the closeness to the Center.
The room that I booked and the pictures were completely different. It was like stepping back to the 1970s and the room was dirty. I asked to change rooms, and after been offered 2 others which were a similar style and standard we finally agreed on a less expensive room that was much more modern and comfortable.

Beautiful historic hotel. Very convenient to the train station. Quiet. Good restaurant and bar.
It’s a bit of a walk to the town centre, however taxis and Ubers are just outside the door.

Property had good location to station and there was no noise at all
Room was good size however the bathroom was filthy, mold all around the bath and floor mat to the point that we went out and bought bleach as we were determined to use the bath as we upgraded our stay especially for this facility to a deluxe room. Whilst having a drink in the garden we were then brought into a police investigation due to a phone being thrown at us so did not feel safe at all staying there, the man who threw the phone was pacing throughout the hotel and just made the stay feel extremely uncomfortable after it also being so unclean.
