Excellent location. In general, the hotel has cool decor and some thoughtful touches.
The shower was wonky. Bed wasn't very comfortable. I could clearly hear the people in the neighboring room talking and watching TV. No wifi as far as I could tell (if there was, I'm not sure where you would find the password -- they certainly weren't volunteering that information). Above a noisy pub, which I knew when I booked, but it's quite rowdy, with people shouting and arguing in front of the place in the middle of the afternoon. And the hotel entrance seemed to be the pub's designated smoking area.

Staff was friendly and room was comfortable.
The room was very dark — insufficient lighting. However, there was a weird light on the ceiling that shone green that you could not turn off and was distracting when trying to sleep. The entryway also had a weird smell — not quite cigarette smoke or mildew. Shower water oscillated between cold and extremely hot — like burning you hot — and there was just an all purpose liquid instead of shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

Great location. Staff was great! Very helpful! Got the rooms set up for us as asked. Provided a few extras we needed. The rooms were very interesting, decorated really cool with lots of old photos.
Didn't realize it was above a bar. Little noisy right after closing. Rooms a little small with our big luggage. Even with that, would stay again.

Location is perfect and our room which we've stayed in before, is comfortable and just what we need for as couple of nights away. Staff were lovely as usual and very polite.
Nothing obvious that we didn't like.

Lovely comfortable beds ..quirky room .. everything you needed for the stay
There was a little bit of noise from the street ...but realized the next morning we had left the window open ? so the second night was absolutely peaceful

It's easy to perform well when nothing goes wrong, but these folks stepped up and solved a problem in my room over which they had no control. I'd stay there again in a heart beat! Got a free beer out of it, too! What more could you ask for???

The hotel's quirky decor. Comfortable, buget-priced in a touristy town. We had a very economical breakfast in a nearby pub.
Available of car parking nearby. Having to lug our cases up the stairs. I can't complain, though - we understood the facilities when we booked.

Clean and convenient
The bed was not very comfortable, and the pillows were terrible. The radiator was turned on and couldn't be turned off, so I had to sleep with the window open. The hotel is on a busy street, and there were a LOT of drunk people walking past all night. Did not get very much sleep at all.

Location was great. The fact that it was in the heart of chester made this experience a cloud 9. I would totally stay here again. Very close to the station and city center. Room was quite fascinating and unique. Toilets were spotless and very clean.
The place is above a pub, so on Saturday night you can definitely hear vibrations from below. Avoid if you're a very light sleeper. Though me and me Mrs had so problem sleeping. Comfortable bedding though :)
