The bedroom was very large, clean and comfortable. The location was lovely.
The bathroom was freezing and the radiator would not come on.
Having restrictions on when children could enter the pool was disappointing and meant that we could not use the pool during our stay. This was the reason we picked this hotel and left us all frustrated.

The location was perfect as we booked this stay as an overnight trip for our son's birthday, we went to Chester Zoo and Blue Planet aquarium, all super close and easy to find. Lots of options for eating out as well at the nearby retail parks (great for families!). The hotel itself was a nice, older building and the family room was really spacious and beds comfortable. The bathroom however had a lot of mold on the ceiling over the bath and when I mentioned it to staff they said housekeeping would have a look, but it must have been an ongoing problem because it was far spreading throughout the bathroom. We did use the swimming pool at the allocated time for children and it was a good size with pool noodles available for the kids. Breakfast was ok, reflective of the price. However, we were incorrectly charged for the breakfast when we checked out (it was included in the booking fee) and the refund only came through after I chased it a few days later. Coincidence perhaps....
The mold on the bathroom as well as the staff's reactions to it was questionable.

No central heating, a small electric heater was in our room totally inadequate for the size, no heating in very large bathroom

Christmas decoration of the hotel
I have booked twin room through Booking.com with 2 signle beds and this request was confirmed by the hotel. When we arrived we received a room with king bed and the sofa. I've asked for a change, but officer at reception told that there are no such rooms available and they are fully booked (although hotel did not look like fully booked). It was extreamely uncomfortable to sleep at the sofa.

The room and facilities were very, very nice. Would come again in the future.
The dining area and waiting on staff was a bit lacking in ambiance and professionalism. Waited a long while for meals, even though it was very quiet, we didn't get the extra condiments we asked for and they didn't check in with us once throughout.

Friendly, welcoming staff on arrival and a very decent sized room (we have a very large dog)
There was a pair of dirty knickers left in the desk drawer, yuck! Ordered a bottle of wine with our meal and they didn't have a corkscrew in the building to open it. Fortunately, we had brought one with us.

Stayed there for 5 nights. The bed was very comfy, the bathroom was nice, and I had a good view from both rooms I stayed in. Great bonus, the pool and jacuzzi. Beautiful green area outside. Wifi- good.
When arriving, the room was clean, but during my stay (5 days/nights), I didn't feel that they cleaned or dusted at all, even when I went to reception and asked- the vacuuming and dusting were poor. The bathroom sinks were not cleaned at all during my stay. The final night I stayed in a smaller room- in that room, the noise from the staircase was bothersome.
Surprised that no small fridge in the room. ( but maybe that's a UK thing).
Food in the bar - not good. Everything I tried was too deep-fried, and the salad leaves looked like they had been on that plate for 2 days.

The building and gardens were beautiful. The room was large. The spa and pool were great! The breakfast buffet was good.
In my room two light bulbs were broken and in my son’s room there was power problem to his lighting most of which didn’t work. Somebody should check this kind of thing before guests arrive. There was no refrigerator.
At dinner the waiter forgot our orders so there was a long wait and finally adults food arrived before the children’s!

Noce friendly staff.
Disappointed with the restaurant, it was not busy but we had to wait over 30 minutes for each course, the first being only olives and bread !!! Really how long does it take to knock that starter together!!! The knock on being we missed the opportunity to use the spa facilities.

Fantastic buildings great location, incredible feature fireplace in the bar area. Family room was spacious.
VERY tired, cracked tiles, missing lamps, broken switches, strange stains on the headboard, peeling/chipped paint, not properly cleaned. This hotel is fantastic but let down by tired, outdated rooms. Investment in rooms would make this a wonderful place to stay
