Nothing. Run down & in much much of being renovated & a good clean. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of staying here. Until the whole place has been renovated! Overpriced too for what it is!

Staff were pleasant especially the breakfast team. Room was comfortable
When i booked this Booking.com had it listed as having limited parking. Shortly after booking I received an email from the hotel to say it was under renovation and therefore not providing evening meals so were amending my booking and refunding the difference. On arrival at the hotel it was apparent there was no parking. We had to park in the lanes at £44.00 a night. ( yes 44.00) when this was questioned with the hotel i was informed they had stopped offering parking approximately 3 months previously- i booked just before this time. I was obviously told about the renovation and the restaurant kitchen so why wasn't i informed about parking. Obviously not important enough to hotel management. There was a cheaper car park at £28.00 a night but that was apparently a 10 minute walk. I have spoken to booking.com who asked me to send a screenshot of my original booking - i dont take screenshots i rely on confirmation emails which didn't arrive. Neither party will take responsibility for the disgusting lack of communication and this totally ruined our stay. I would not recommend this hotel if you are driving to Brighton.

The staff were very helpfull all the time, nothing ever was too much trouble for them a cridit to the hotel, room had no heating portable heater intalled in the time ask about the heating at reception and returned to room, room clean and tidy , slivht problem with hot water at the sink, would only work if you run the hot tap in the bath but old building not a problem just a bit odd
Very cold in the room used as a dinning room,no heating working at all,the lift to dinning room out of service, a slight problem as my wife has mobility proplems, no rezurante any more as under going a refurb, could have food in the ground floor lounge, no heating there also i think the building had no heating for some reason, but over all loved our stay even with these problems

I loved everything about the old ship and I plan on returning next year
Minor thing the breakfast room was up a couple of flights of stairs but I'm sure they would accommodate wheelchair users

Loved the old style of hotel. All of the staff we spoke to were wonderful - friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast room was beautiful - the decor and that it clearly has all the original features of being a dance hall or theatre. The room we had was clean, roomy and had all that we needed. Really convenient for the beach front (we didn't go as it was 50 mph winds and raining), the high street and The Lanes.
Nothing really, but I think there are places where the hotel clearly needs some TLC - the corridors looked tired and need some updating.

Always friendly, accommodating staff. That the dear lift is still in order. That my pooch was able to come and stay. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. We love that you are so near to The Lanes. Your front of desk staff made for a happy visit. Assisting in getting us to our room with the luggage and pooch, much appreciated as my husband has dementia. Good luck with the refurbishment. Thank you
Whilst the room was clean, it had such an awful odour. It smelt like drains. We had to ask a member of staff to come with a freshener, which sadly he was unable to leave the freshener in our room. The hot water took a good 10 t0 15 minutes to come through the pipes. The remote to the TV required new batteries. Good job we noticed before getting ready for bed. We didn't have breakfast, as the last time we stayed we didn't think it was good value.

The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the location is perfect.
We have stayed in this hotel many years ago and unfortunately the hotel is starting to show its age. I hope the renovation stays on track and allows the hotel to raise it standards to compete with other hotels on the sea front.
