Poor
The location was good and Brighton itself is a great place to visit.
When I arrived I was waiting to be served at reception one receptionist was serving another guest the other one looked at me and ignored me. When walking to the room the carpets and stairs looked dirty, in the room itself the carpets had stains all over it. Lastly if anyone staying would like a lie in you need to hope no one in another room is having a shower because the pipes creak in your own bathroom and a noise like an alarm goes off until they have finished.

Poor
Property location is great, on the seafront. Parking in the car park behind was easy and convenient.
Very very poor standard of cleanliness - the carpet in room 110 was heavily stained and pretty gross, the mattress had unidentified ‘bits’ on it - Google lens said these looked like bed bug/mites but couldn’t be certain (only pulled back the sheet to check the mattress because I’d been bitten 4 times in the middle of the night). Pest control company they brought in said they weren’t (phew) but they still shouldn’t have been there even if the mattress had been cleaned. Bath did not drain when showering, ‘glugged’ all day and night and on day 4 of my stay, regurgitated goodness knows what disgusting brown matter through the plug hole. Staying in Brighton again this weekend, and not booking Mercure. Very poor show for a so called ‘superior’ room.

Wonderful
The staff were very friendly and always happy to help. The hotel is also beautifully located at the seafront close to other venues and restaurants. It is a bit of a walk from the train station, but very easy to navigate to. The rooms themselves were very clean, with comfortable beds and even included a bathrobe and slippers. I would definitely visit again should I return to Brighton.
The single room were quite small, which was not really visible from the photos. This is very nitpicky, but the coffee at breakfast also tasted quite sweet, which was not what we expected.

Fair
The staff were amazing truely a credit to company. Food was pretty good.
Just the little details, sink in the bathroom seemed like it was blocked, water went down really slowly.
Hotel needs a little modernising and updating or more refreshing new carpets. That sort of thing. Pillows were not nice.

Disappointing
Staff are great. Welcoming, efficient, a warm reception.
Threadbare, badly marked and dirty in appearance carpets. We were allocated room 100, the threshold between the room and the bathroom was very uneven. The few plug sockets in the room were oddly placed, not by the bed and in the case of two single sockets, not near a suitable surface for changing devices. The bed was a small short double (and we are not tall!) located beside a wall to fit it in the equally small room. For the amount we paid this is NOT good value. No where other than the bed to put a suitcase to unpack, loo had a failing flush. The bathroom was cleaned to a good standard. It is obvious that a great deal of money has been spent downstairs in the reception and bar areas. That money should have been spent on the corridors and bedrooms instead. Summary; welcoming staff and reception area, rooms are very tired, poorly thought out and expensive for what they are. Compared to other hotels in Brighton that we have stayed in recently.

Location.
Mostly everything. Tiny room, very tired and no air conditioning, yet still charged a very high price. Very dissatisfied, tried to speak to a manager but the staff really weren't interested.
