Wonderful
Central to everything in Brighton. It had an onsite parking and reasonable pricing. Room lovely and big equipped with mini bar. Lovely bedding. Easy to move around the hotel. Lovely bar and breakfast area. Lots of choice for breakfast.
Even though onsite parking. Very odd parking spaces. Could have had fresh milk in the room as had a minibar/fridge in the room.

Shower was excellent, had what we needed in the room and the bed was adequately comfortable. The staff attempted to support, trying to offer a room closer to the lifts.
One lift was out of order throughout our stay and the other was out of order when we came back in the evening the other was also broken, allegedly because of the weather. In fact the whole hotel felt generally tired. The check in process also took a long time, at least half an hour and only one person was on the desk. Likewise strange that the room cleaning was still happening at 4.45 when we arrived at ours. Short staffed?
The room didn't have many plugs and one of them was only possible to use when the bathroom light was on.

Very Poor
Most of the staff were friendly, comfortable bed
Walls are paper thin
The lift is really rickety and stupid working while it's windy
Room wasn't made up
Everything just feels tired and dated
A sea view means you can just about see the sea of you really look hard enough, not that you'll be over looking the sea

Very Good
The hotel was in a great location looking over the old west pier. I had a balcony room that enjoyed marvellous views, it was large and though dated well furnished. The bed was very comfortable and the area was fairly quiet overnight so I slept well . I ate in the hotel , no restaurant but a nice dedicated bar area with waitress service. The food was tasty if a little pricy. Several items were unavailable on the menu but this did not spoil my enjoyment of the meal . The staff were very efficient and attentive.
Building work is going on at the moment and only one lift is working and it sounded as if it needed a little maintenance. The whole building does look a little tired and could do with a bit of a makeover. However the overall experience was still pleasant and relaxing because of the staff!

Very comfortable stay, the bed was comfortable, room temperature was perfect and everywhere was very clean.
The staff all over were very friendly and very helpful with any needs that we had.
Things that are likely to be beyond control of the hotel such as no lift that we could see from car park to the hotel, especially when carrying luggage. The lift in the building sounded a bit rickety although a lovely serviceman reassured us he checks it regularly. Walls were a bit thin, chappy in the next room had a sneezing fit....sounded as though he was in bed next to me it was that loud - concerned he would of clearly heard my loud snoring in that case :)

Fiona was lovely and another lady who helped set up the sofa bed for us.
The price. I booked it last minute and it was £200 for a fairly basic stay. I paid it as I had planned a last minute trip with my children but I have nothing else to complain about but I don’t think it was worth £200.

Location
Room was spacious but had a small bathroom
Current works on the lift meant only 1 lift available which was always busy as a large hotel, plus it’s sounded and felt like it was breaking when using it which was scary in itself. Gates to the car park not opening on entering and existing on a very steep hill - had to phone the hotel for assistance each time. Was given a key to the room that didn’t work upon check in. Breakfast busy, not enough staff and had to order pancakes and wait ages as they weren’t on buffet.
