Location, close to everything.
Old, needs repairs, bathroom door didnt close, curtains had holes, lift very noisy from our room. Just felt in need of repair and a bit of love, location was good but no parking on street or at hotel. Very seedy clientele.

Nothing to be honest. Very disappointed.
Staff were not welcoming.
One word answers.
When I said good morning - no answer at all!
Night club / party bar under our room with music and a great deal of noise until gone 1am in the morning. {a nightclub] which we were not aware of when booking.
Our room was not clean. In fact, I cleaned the bathroom sink myself before using it.
The cream heated towel rail was not only cold and not working ... it was filthy. We were unable to use it to hang our towels.
The room needed hoovering. There was bits & pieces on the floor, around the edges and sand from the beach everywhere - we couldn't walk around bare foot. We kept our socks on for the duration of our stay.
The tables were dusty {my husband cleaned them]. The two leather chairs were covered in sand.
A plant in the foyer [one of the first things guests see], has not been cleaned/dusted ever/probably since purchase ... I have a photo I can share.
The foyer should be gleaming with cleanliness and welcoming clean smells. In the foyer there were 4 VERY LARGE linen bags waiting to be collected. Why they were being stored there - I have no idea. Not nice.

Liked its location, we could see the sea from the room
The selection of refreshments was better than some places we have stayed in.
The dodgy shower.
It works perfectly, but ceiling above looks like it is going to fall down and the shower floor, the floor felt like it was going to collapse

Location & value for money
Room was large & comfortable and there was a lift to the basement
The decor was tired.
The bed was a little bit soft but ok
Everything was clean but the carpet had seen better days and the grouting around the glass tiles was a bit dodgy but for the price & location on the seafront we thought this was all reasonable.

Great location.
We stayed in a Penthouse Suite at the Amsterdam Hotel in Brighton, but the condition of the room was absolutely unacceptable.
The room was visibly dusty, with dust on the old leather sofa and tables. The carpet was old, dirty, and smelled strongly of dust. The sink was clogged, the plug was covered in hair, and there was visible mould on the glass shower door.
The wall clock was not working because there were no batteries in it, and the fridge was not cooling properly. The room felt as though it had only been superficially cleaned rather than properly maintained. I have photos to support these issues.
I expected basic cleanliness, proper maintenance, and a comfortable night's sleep. Unfortunately, this experience fell far below acceptable hotel standards. I would not stay here again.
