I have stayed here before, depending on which side of the hotel you are on, the experience can be very nice and family suited, the bar is friendly, the guests I never have a problem with and there is plenty of parking, not to mention, its a castle
In this occasion I was in the south wing, a very dated a room, a bed that gave me a bad back, even the signs couldnt tell me where my room was

There was no heating at all in the hotel..the window was whistling all night long..told the staff but wasn't offered a room change an sent maintenance guy who could only put black tape around the window..at 6pm the bathroom ceiling was leaking an made a puddle on the floor..the bathroom was in a dirty state and then complained again to staff but then they offered a top floor room when I have lung disease an heart condition an terminally ill.so decided to check out at 6.30pm as there is no maintenance after 5pm an was checking out at 9am next morning ..I couldn't have a top floor an they was told this..I was told I would get a refund but 2 days later when at home I was told I would not get a refund not even for the one night at checked out at 6pm..so I lost all my money..I went to make memories with my disability son an husband with being terminally ill and that was taken away an I haven't got them days to spare..very disappointing..spoke with britaania but obviously they not expecting any liability..I been before 6 months ago an was a very nice stay an clean..there should be some notice an warned there is no heating.. an I guessing the other guests above an next door wasn't told either about the leak..that dangerous with all the electrics as it was dripping just at the light..I was scared to turn any switches on..

I know this property gets a lot of negative reviews, but we have been coming here for years, it’s got character, friendly staff, warm environment and an amazing swimming pool, it is what you make it and we always have a lovely time every time we visit
A little attention could be paid to the windows, couldn’t see much of the sea as the windows were dirty on the outside, but it’s coming to winter so I understand

The room itself was clean, mostly well provisioned and the bathroom / shower were good.
The staff were extremely helpful and informative.
We only had breakfast the one day. The layout was a bit confusing at first but the food was tasty and plentiful.
There aren't enough electric sockets for today's lifestyle. I appreciate this is an infrastructure issue but it could still be improved.
The biggest issue and the reason for an overall "fair" rather than "good" was the total lack of heating in the building. This combined with a storm and very, very poor draught proofing, including a window in Room 5 that is loose in its frame and wouldn't lock shut meant we had to spend the whole time there in coats (visiting Play Expo) which did tarnish the visit.

Parking good and £3 for 24hrs is very cheap
Beds very hard and could feel all the springs in the mattress. Heating didn’t work in the room so was freezing cold. Window was leaking in water which wasn’t ideal when storm Amy was hitting, woken up to a waterfall coming from the top of the window. Paid for 2 nights but only stayed 1, all our clothes felt damp after spending a night there. Been going to the norbreck every October for that last 10yrs but won’t be back. Lady on front desk very unhelpful and the place isn’t the same as it once was.
