We have stayed here a few times now and it’s been great value for money, breakfast is great my little girl really enjoys it. We found the location good as your away from all the nightlife.
The bar needs to be modernised and the check-in time could do with being abit earlier maybe to 1pm?

The staff are always so nice at reception
I feel as you have reduced prices the clientele has changed....I feel the hotel is starting to look tired . The last I stayed a year ago I was given the worst room ever only to find at check in this time I was given the same ...I would rather move hotel than stay in that room again. I have been staying at the Imperial over 40 years on and off.. Another problem was at breakfast ...my used pots were never collected staff seem to look more after those on the balcony. It is a shame.....had to request a second duvet as one just to think...

Upgraded room at check in to a suite. It felt like stepping into the past. Loved the history that came with our room and learning about the famous people who had stayed there.
Some parts of the bathroom weren’t perticularly clean with obvious signs of ageing, water in the shower was quite temperamental but manageable.

The hotel is on the tram line.just cross the road. So that is convienient to get to the tower or the piers. We also got a day ticket. Saved money as you can hope on and off the tram.

The staff in the restaurant at breakfast were very welcoming and helpful.
Breakfast was buffet style and absolutely spot on.
Our room had a lovely sea view(which we paid extra for). The bed was comfortable.
Our experience of the hotel was greatly enhanced by some superb hot sunny weather. We were able to enjoy our drinks outside on the "patio".
The guy on reception when we arrived was very prefuctory, bordering on miserable. Don't think we saw him smile? Not a good 1st impression.
The £14 car park charge is a rip-off(I missed that when I made the booking, as for some reason on Booking.com it says "Street Parking").Anyway, my fault, but still a rip off in my opinion.
The bar is unbelievably gloomy. Dark and Dingy. Not a single window. It feels like you're in the bowels of the building. So glad we were able to escape to the outside because the weather was so good. The bar should be moved to the front of the building where the sea views are. Nice, bright and inviting. Doors could be open in the warm weather.
The outside "patio area" is basically 4 small round tables each with a few metal chairs. You feel like you are sat in the car park!!.....which in effect you are. Come on Imperial, you can do better than this.
All in all, The Imperial Hotel is a tired, grand old lady. We enjoyed her history and the glimpses of grandeur from times long gone. We do feel though that more should be made of her fabulous ocean views, by having the bar area at the front, and by having a lovely outside eating/drinking area.

All the staff made me and my female dog feel like royalty all verry freindly and lovely the room was beutifull and verry comfatable,and the breakfast was absoluitly spectacular its been a lovely 4 days stay and will be definitely going back soon realy welcoming !
