As we were a family staying in two rooms, I requested rooms close together when I booked the stay weeks ago. A few days before I arrived, I rang and requested this again and was told they would do their best. When I arrived I was told (politely by one receptionist and rudely, loudly and repetitively by another receptionist) that the two rooms were on seperate floors (1st floor and 3rd floor) and that there was nothing they could do about this. They confirmed that they had both queen and family rooms on the 1st floor (types I had booked) but could not accommodate us on the same floor as they were full. Clearly they took no notice of my request. As a family, this was very unsatisfactory. The key cards for the rooms are also necessary for the lifts, you can only get out at the floor your room is on so we couldn't travel by lift between the rooms, had to get the stairs each time. On the first night and again the second day, some of the key cards stopped working. Breakfast was casual but decent enough. Free cocktail on arrival which just tasted like cordial. Free hot chocolate for the kids which was a nice touch. On the last day, the receptionist (a third member of staff who was there when we arrived) waivered the cost of our parking at the Great Northern carpark as an apology for not giving us rooms close to each other.

Literally heard the person in adjoining room every conservation , toilet trip etc , I felt so uncomfortable, zero privacy.
