The staff at Malmaison are lovely and helped us with all queries and concerns. The location is excellent for a night in Belfast.
After check in I was waiting at the lift-opposite a loo with the door wide open and it was littered with mess.
Then when the lift doors opened at my door, I was greeted by a painter -all set up . Bottles of Dr Pepper and a pure mess. The fumes were overwhelming. He explained he was painting a floor!! I mean -in what world does a hotel refinish floors the weekend before Christmas??!! I got into my room but the fumes were so bad I immediately had a headache. The receptionist moved me to a new room very quickly.
The new room had the heat at full capacity and we were far too hot.
The hotel bedroom and bathroom were grubby and tired. The bathroom was actually really dirty. The lighting was so bad and there wasn’t even a decent light to put on make up. The hair drier broke half way though . Staff brought a new one but I was late for dinner then. I left for dinner over heated, late and not happy.
When we got back later, the staff were so accommodating getting us tea etc.
The overall experience of this hotel was just fair and made pleasant by the staff. But it needs refreshed and a deep clean. In the morning I just hadn’t the heart to start complaining when obviously the front desk were busy and doing their best.

Poor
Location was lovely
Renovations were being made to hotel on our floor which we weren’t made aware of. Our room smelled of fumes of paint and varnish. Loads of noise being made from sanders.
Very worrying to wake up during the night to smell of fumes, rang reception and they couldn’t do anything about it.

Disappointing
It was central
The noise from the bar was loud. The sink was blocked. Tea & coffee & toilet rolls not replenished for night two
Rooms on first floor are tired & need refurbishment

Very Poor
Nothing
First room smelled of urine. Second room wasn't clean for the price. It did not seem that linen had been changed. Carpets were unclean throughout the hotel. Bar was unclean. Staff were pleasant but slow and inexperienced. Low stock in the fridges behind the bar
