Lagan Backpackers is a well-equipped hostel in central Belfast. It offers free parking and free Wi-Fi. Check in is from 14:00-23:00. For late check in 23:00-01:00 only upon request, please make sure to choose prepayment option only so we can organize a late check in. ***For Group bookings of 10 or more people, please contact us on our website Belfast Lagan Backpackers. We will refuse booking if booking is made without contacting us beforehand. 30% Deposit to secure booking and outstanding payment to be paid 30 days before arrival. Also there will be a security deposit of £20.00 per person to pay on arrival, this will be returned upon check out after inspecting rooms and also following our house rules. This will all be informed after booking. ***We have the right to refuse any guests who are in a state of drunkness when checking in, unhoused guests, no valid card details provided or any illegal activities such as drugs. We may ask for security deposit in case of damages or house rules are broken. Any refused bookings, their payment to their reservations are forfeited.*** The property and all rooms are only accessible with keypads and stairs. Dormitories have bunk beds and use of shared bathroom facilities. There are mixed dorms at Lagan Backpackers, as well as private rooms. We also provides barbecue facilities, a living room and free tea and coffee. There are kitchen and dining area. Our backpacker is just 10 minutes’ walk from the center of the city. Belfast Botanical Gardens and Ormeau Park are within 5 minutes’ walk, on either side of the River Lagan.e River Lagan. Guest have to provide valid ID (passport or Driving License) and card.

Disappointing
The kitchen had pots and pans
There is functionally no air conditioning in the room. There is a constant humidity in the air, and regardless of opening the windows or not, it will.persist. I was told by a tenant that they were almost assaulted by the owner/manager because they had cracked the door open in the night to let the air circulate with how stale it was. The sheets are also not cleaned regularly; there were yellow and brown stains on my duvet and I absolutely did not use it.

After a previous hostel bailed on me at the last minute, Lagan Backpackers was in the same location and helped me out with a spare bed. Additionally, they allowed late sign-in, especially as my flight was delayed. They put a clipboard on a bed with my name so others would not take the allocated bed. They are great value-for-money.
Nothing that the hostel could help. Two of the fellow residents in my room were loud snorers but this goes with the territory.

I had a very unpleasant experience at this hostel. I was alone in a 6-bed dorm and opened the door to create a draught and air out the room, to let some fresh air in. I left it open for just a few minutes while staying inside the whole time, and this provoked such aggression from the hostel manager that he flew into a rage and wanted to hit me. He shouted at me and threatened to throw me out immediately. He wouldn't even let me get a word in to ask why he was shouting at me like that and what I had done. All I did was let some fresh air into the room. He yelled that when he tells me to close the door, I have to do it, and that I have no right to air out the room. I don't know if he was having a bad day and took his frustration out on me, but in my opinion this is unacceptable, and I would warn everyone about this unstable person. He sees nothing wrong with shouting at guests and being aggressive. The standard of the hostel is very poor. In the shower, for example, you get either cold water or very hot water, so it's impossible to wash. The water pressure is very weak. One of the worst hostels I've ever stayed in. I don't recommend it.

The staff, particularly Michael, was outstanding and really went above and beyond to help and give advice. I would give 15 stars if it were all about him!
It was a 30 min walk to the big tourist location like the cathedral Quarter and the Titanic museum. Everything just seemed kind of old there as well like an update would be needed.
