Good hotel and location. The interior in some areas and room seam old-fashioned but everything is comfortable. Checkin and checkout with the help of guard instead of clerk was a bit odd. Breakfast is inexpensive and rich, you order meals from menu though.

I observed some minor deviations from the expected standards for a four-star establishment. While these did not significantly impact my stay, attention to such details would enhance the overall guest experience. Additionally, one key aspect that could be improved is the level of service. A more welcoming demeanor and a stronger commitment to guest satisfaction would greatly elevate the hotel’s hospitality. Warmth and attentiveness are integral to creating a memorable stay, and fostering a more guest-oriented approach would align the service with the hotel’s otherwise refined atmosphere.
Overall, Hotel “Kyiv” has a strong foundation, combining an excellent location with a distinguished setting. With slight refinements in service quality and adherence to expected standards, it has the potential to offer an exceptional experience in line with its four-star designation.

Staff was friendly and helpful.
Room was super cold, despite having the heaters on, the double bed only had a single duvet on, when I asked about this, a 2nd single duvet was delivered to my room.
Shockingly I was charged almost $60 for 1 bag of washing, there was no washing prices in the room (my fault for not asking the price, but still excessively expensive)

The hotel is located between the presidential office, parliament and the Chinese embassy, so probably it's the safest place in Ukraine.
On the other hand, safety means there are a lot of checkpoints near the hotel, and many taxi drivers don't know how to drive there. Although it's located at the very center of the city, but the most roads toward there are blocked, so you have to make a big detour. Thus it's impossible to reach the hotel from the nearest Khreshchatyk metro station (use Arsenalnaya).
The décor is of course completely all Soviet antiques, but I'm sure no one is staying at this hotel for that ;)
The Wifi signal is weak enough to be ignored, most of the time it's completely absent, the situation is the same even at the corridor, so it's very likely that there's no router on my floor at all. I've spoken to the staff and they don't seem to intend to take this issue seriously. The overall vibe of the hotel is quite... quirky, and I often wondered if I was the only client here (and then realized that there were still four or five rooms lit up at night), and why it was still running...

It was very empty, I think I was the only guest there and the hotel is enormous. It was kind of spooky. I understand the sircumbstancies but I wouldn’t advise to stay there at the moment

I was really disappointed with the staff. First of all they don't speak English at all. I would expect this in 4* hotel that is next to the Maryinsky palace. But we managed somehow.
But I was highly disappointed with the attitude of the guard when we were leaving. We needed to get to the train station by taxi. The internet did not work, so we askwd the receptuonist/gard to call us a taxi. He only answered "no taxi" and went to his bed again. Horrible aproach to customers.

Great location, quite in the night, fantastic view from the balcony (I’ve stayed on the 10th floor). Fair price. I’ve enjoyed staying in the Soviet style hotel that has a history, still nice old details in the room (but in general the hotel needs some love- some proper renovation to keep it alive)
Bad smell in the bathroom, the facilities in the room and bathroom need to be repaired (not replaced!)
