Location and style - if you like Arabic motifs and interior views of the old Arab city with an African flavor. Plus a very tasty breakfast.
It would be good to separate the toilet area in the room more securely. Well, the service was not always hasty.

Very elegant hotel w a spacious room. Breakfast was good.
Be prepared to climb stairs. The front desk staff may be a bit animated but friendly.

This place is perfect! It’s centrally located, every room is different and filled with personality, the staff is friendly and super helpful, and the food is delicious. We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend it!!!

Everything was great.
Check what floor your room will be on because we were on the 5th floor and the stairs are steep. So you want to be aware of that if you don't like stairs.

Staff were amazing!! Great hospitality and willing to give great information on local activities, foods, etc.
The location is fantastic, literally a two minute walk to the waterfront.
The food was very good. Local options available on site and it was delicious!
The Sultana room has a shower/tub in the open room and the toilet is behind a small wall.
You’re fairly exposed to your “roommate” while using these facilities, may not be fantastic for private individuals.

- The staff was fabulous! Daniela, Lulu, Roderick and Jackson (both porters) were ALL welcoming, helpful and kind.
- The experience of staying in a beautifully restored historical building was memorable.
- The breakfast was delicious
- The recommendations for local touring and restaurants were excellent
- The location was exceptional
- The room was spacious and clean
The spa experience offered in the hotel was extremely convenient and was good (especially after a safari!), but would need a tweak to up level to great.

Bed mattress is not comfy. There is elevator and need to climb the multiple staircases to go to your bedroom. Mosquitos in dining hall. Location is not good as you are far from the center of tourist shoppings and hangout places.

A beautiful old building, tastefully decorated with all the modern comforts, close enough to walk to from the ferry. The rooms were spacious with high ceilings.
The staff were amazing and looked after us so well. We enjoyed relaxing in the seating area downstairs.

The staff, first of all. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our room was large and and comfortable. And we had lovely gin and tonics before dinner.
It would have been perfect if there had been an elevator—but that’s not how things are in historic buildings in Stone Town. Fortunately, the stairs have strong handrails.
