So relaxing and luxurious
I loved the villa with ocean view, the room was big and as well as the bathroom
Turn down was not a regular turn down they basically arranged and cleaned the room again.
Everyday we stayed there they came to check on the pool without calling them.
The staff is so friendly and kind.
I loved seeing the monkeys outside my room.
Sport activities were also nice.
The massage was amazing and so relaxing.
The sofa was not comfortable and the TV was too small for the room

Our stay was absolutely perfect!!! The attention to details and the service was great. Special thanks to (Mercy) in front desk for arranging the birthday dinner and decor for my husband. Also a special thanks to the room service team (Sophia & Shakira) for going above and beyond with making sure we are looked after.
The resort is stunning, pool area is beautiful and the service is outstanding.
Another special thanks to the Chef (Satish) for the excellent food served in the resort.
Nothing at all- Everything was perfect !

Very Good
Loved the view and sunsets from the ocean-front villa as well as the private pools. The room was large and the bathroom was huge! The staff was extremely attentive and accommodating for every need. Bicycles are provided and fun to ride around the property. We loved seeing monkeys, dik diks, and elephant shrews daily around the property. Take walks along the ocean during low tide (to the right you will pass many fishing boats and huts, art stands, and then find a bar on a promontory where drinks are half the price compared to the Residence). We paid for an excursion to Jozani Forest, which we could have done without because the property is teeming with both black monkeys and red colobus monkeys. We did very much enjoy the outing to Saalam Caves to feed the sea turtles. The Safari Blue trip was nice but expensive and a long trip. We didn’t visit anyplace north or west or east, but we chose this place for the seclusion and tranquility—and that is what we experienced.
The beach has a lot of rocks and sea grass, and the sand in the water feels clay-like. We knew that from reviews and that we would have to snorkel elsewhere. During high tide you can enjoy frolicking in the ocean water, though. Plenty of excursions available but expensive.

Villas are spacious and very clean. Toilets are big. They do room service twice a day. They provide bicycles to commute within the resort. So calm and perfect for relaxation. Highly recommended
The beach wasnt good for swimming because of all the sea weed. They keep removing it but it keeps accumulating. There is a good variety of food but they could work more on the taste of food although it’s not bad at all.

We really enjoyed our stay in The Residence. The staff was lovely. We were surrounded by nature. The children loved the kids club and their nature walks from there spotting birds and butterflies, as well as cycling around the resort. It has a boutique feeling, spacious villa with a pool, and a relaxing atmosphere. Perfect for a most memorable holiday. The children already are asking when we go back.

The view of the villa was gorgeous and service was excellent.
The only issue we had that We booked a private villa with pool , but it wasn’t private! The staff was passing by all the time.

Excellent property overall and one of our best stays in Zanzibar. Complete privacy and excellent hotel facilities. Can’t go wrong with this one!
Maybe some more food options for our taste buds.

Pleasant
1) Green environment 2) Located right on the beach 3) Spacious rooms 4) Fresh and Delicious meals
1) My wife found a snake in the bathroom on two occasions. This matter was taken lightly inspite of the traumatic experience. It was not until we complained that fumigation was undertaken and even after this was ostensibly done, we still found another small snake in the outdoor bathroom area.
2) The property is located quite far away from the airport, and boat landing area

The place is very nice and green, we saw so many animals that just that was worth the stay . Each villa has a decent sized pool, and the big pool is also in a great setting . Good spot for a lazy vacation with beautiful views.
The only minus would be exorbitant prices for drinks and food. $20 for a cocktail, or $5 for bottle of water is really too much . Not to mention over inflated (like 3x more) prices for taxi

It was my birthday and I was surprised with a cake and staff sang for me including the live band during dinner.Very thoughtful and nice of them. By the time I retired to my room, another surprise was waiting. They made up the bedroom beautifully with flowers and candles and wrote a happy birthday with my name. The manager Rakeesh ( I hope I spelt his name correctly) was also very nice and arranged some entertainment at The Pavilion Restaurant .
Upon checkout,we had missed breakfast and Benjamin was kind enough to offer us pizza.
Thank you to all the staff at The Residence. You made my stay beautiful.
Also the privacy of having your own pool was really nice.

Very Good
Fantastic location with brilliant villas and individual pool and seclusion.
Bikes were fun.
Birds and monkeys great to watch.
Very good food.
The flooring round pool is lifting and could do with renewing.
The Dhow, Mrs Residence was beautiful and clean and really impressive.
The motor launch Mr Residence is really shabby with cracked seats and a feeling of being poorly maintained, which for a five star resort and paying a lot of dollars to go out on the boat feels a bit of a shame.
Any clothing put down got brown stains on it.
The skipper and crew were brilliant…. On both trips.
Any gripe is a bit picky but being charged $5 for water in the restaurant seems a bit tight given the amount being charged for the other drinks.

Pleasant
The villas are perfect. The swimming pool is amazing - especially the beach front options. There is nowhere else in Zanzibar you can get private pools like it.
Outside of your own villa the experience was disappointing. The food was disgusting and the service sub-par. Do NOT expect a 5 star hotel.

It was beautiful, staff were lovely and the accommodation was excellent
The beach is not good for swimming. It doesn’t really matter as there’s a huge pool and private pools in each room, but if you were planning or hoping to swim in the sea you’d likely be a bit disappointed.
