Location is great.
. Very noisy
. Cleaner came in the room while I was sleeping, which made the rest of the stay unpleasant as to any noise I’d wake up
. Lots of outside guests which makes the space for paying hotel guests limited also in regards to comfort and quiet

Pleasant
The location of the property is right inside Stone Town, close to all interesting sites. The hotel looks to be refurbished from old buildings, so it may not be so accessible to people who needs it. It is a nice boutique hotel with all ameneties.
Room was quite comfortable for us. Breakfast had good spread and upon early morning check out they provided a small refreshment kit. I really appreciates that.
Few things definitely need improvement:
1. The rooftop restaurant is too slow. Breakfast time was okay for us. We were very early anyway. We had lunch on 2 days and dinner on 1 day and each time food was served at least 30-50 min late. On one occasion, there were very few diners
2. The room was not soundproof. You will listen to music from restaurant during dinner time and may bother you.
3. Check out was very weird. We did early dawn check out. The staff at the desk was so confused. It took more than 20 min for him to settle it. He didn't provide me a bill or split of charges. We were afraid of getting delayed to the airport and paid whatever amount he told. I don't know if I paid the correct amount, it may be higher or lower.

Best place we stayed in Zanzibar. The staff was amazing. Everybody was super helpful. The rooms were cleaning. The food was great 100% recommend.

The location is very convenient, right in downtown, right next to many shops, close to the food market and easy accesible with the car. Not a common thing in Stone Town, this was very important for us as we had to leave to the airport very early in the morning.
The staff was helpful and they welcomed us with a drink. The room and the facilities were mostly according to the description and they had a sea view terrace with a restaurant and a pool.
The elevator to our room didn't work and we were in the second floor. This was only communicated to us on arrival and made it hard for us to leave with the lugagge on the next day. The mattress was not so comfy and the bed was a little wobbly, according to the level of the hotel and the price of the room we expected more from it.

Great location and a beautiful setting for breakfast and restuarant, with lovely seaviews in one section
For a hotel catering for a predominantly tourist population on vacation, it would be nice if they would extend breakfast service until at least 10:30. Not a pleasant feeling having to get up early just to catch breakfast.

Fantastic stay at Maru Maru!
We stayed there for 10 nights, excellent facilities, clean rooms, amazing view, and great service!
The staff is always helpful and give service with a smile. After a couple of days, we had excellent communication with them.
The kitchen pumps out some of the best food Zanzibar has to offer. We ate from a big portion of the menu, I recommend eating there regularly for long stays. The meat samosas are the best my travel buddy had ever tried, and I tend to agree! Make sure to also try some of the local dishes.
The manager was also very friendly, and he helped me out after I got bitten by a street cat, helping me get fast to the closest hospital and making sure I was taken care of! Very knowledgeable about Zanzibar and life there.
Especial shout out to the amazing staff, providing top-class service and good company. We talked a lot to them during our stay there. Always helpful and in a good mood!
Clean pool, perfect for morning swim, and a good place to catch the sunset.
Location is perfect, right in the middle of the action in Stone Town.
Not a single thing I can think of that I would change about my stay there.
We well definitely come back to Maru Maru if the winds take us back to lovely Zanzibar :)

The restaurant is at the rooftop, which is a nice start in the morning when the breakfast is served, the variety of food & fruit is perfect, the view from the rooftop is very nice. If you want you can stay at that rooftop the whole day, breakfast rolls into lunch, lunch rolls into drinks at the bar, or launch, followed by dinner! Not to forget to mention the rooftop swimming pool that appeared to have rather cold water, good for cooling down at a hot afternoon.
Wifi speed was very slow. The fitness room is well equipped with weights, but the main machine is not operational, as the wires do not run smoothly, this needs to be serviced / maintained.

The breakfast was very good. Lots of choices. The rooftop bar/restaurant was excellent. Great place to watch the sunset. I way overtipped by mistake and the waitress hunted me down and explained what I had done, so very nice and honest. They had a different band every night. Lots of fun. Very nice that the hotel arranged transportation to/from the airport. Very coinvent. Location was wonderful, convenient ft shopping and the main sites in Stonetown.
We asked for a wakeup call 3 of the mornings we were there and only got it on the last morning.

Good location
So loud and noisy!! We couldn’t sleep at all! The staff of the hotel are super loud, when they move around or clean neighbouring rooms. We even woke up to some banging at 3 AM. Bed uncomfortable and you can feel your every move of the person next to you.
