Poor
The cleaning staff is friendly. The reception staff is friendly but very much misled me about one of the tours. It was a big waste of my day so I wish there was honesty there. She did however help me rent a good motobike.
The $55 blue lagoon tour is nothing but a sandbar and basically a market on an island full of trash, things to buy, a baobab tree that is being carved in, animal exploitation with crabs, and very bad snorkeling. Its advertised as a snorkeling tour but it 100% is not. Dont waste your time or money.
The beds literally have nothing to cover you with. There are no blankets or even a sheet. Nothing. Zip. Nada. What hostel has no blankets or sheets to cover up? The beds are big but thats the only good thing. The walls in the beds are very dirty and even had blood on mine. Could be a nice place with some TLC( tender, loving care)

Easy simple hostel! Everyone seemed friendly! It was in a nice location.
You pay for what you get so your sharing a room with other people doesn’t feel super clean but a great budget hostel!

Disappointing
Great location. Good AC
Was empty during my stay there, totally fine typically but did not feel safe for a solo female traveller arriving at night. Staff was hard to find at times and it felt as though anyone off the streets could walk in to the dorms. Needs a bit of cleaning, lots of dust and spiders everywhere. Understand it’s low season and there are renovations being done but don’t think I would recommend this place especially during low season.

Wonderful
It’s a quite place with absolutely good location in the middle of the must busiest streets in Zanzibar.
The staff is friendly and polite to tourists but they are very busy.
I didn’t like the staff who coming angry and less polite to ask you about checking out,

The beds are big and you got your privacy due to the curtains.
Sleeping in the lady dormitory was a great choice.
No space to hang washing, which in a backpacker is a bit problematic as then all wet and washed clothes and bathing stuff is hanging in the dormitory. Also toilet seats should be re-attached.

No windows, and the ceiling was quite low for my boyfriend

Do not stay here!
The woman who runs this hostel is completely unhinged. I was attacked by her after I disputed the washing charge (the washing came back late, dirty and wet and she still wanted full price). I ended up with a deep purple bruise the size of my forearm.
I tried to resolve the issue amicably with her but from the get go she was screaming at me and in the end people from the street had to come in and stop her attacking me.

Good
Friendly staff, good wifi and amazing location.
It's probably not the hostel's fault, but the two nights we spent there there was very hard to sleep because of this loud bar acrooss the street.
The room was smaller than we'd have liked as well, with low celing (I couldn't stand up fully) and small bed.

The bed was really comfortable and big size.
The location is central, perfect. You can walk by many different places, shops, the market. And it is in front of Freddy Mercury's house.
It doesn't have the kitchen

Good
Location (unbeatable) right at the town center with everything nearby
Reception by staff (lovely) big up to Pili!
Cleaning of bathrooms (frequent)
Size of beds in the dorm (huge!), curtains a big plus
A/C in the dorm working fine
Minor things:
Lockers not working in the dorm
Bathrooms quite hot and floor often wet
Wifi slow at times
No kitchen available
Limited common areas
Overall a nice stay though - would recommend and come back!
