Bathroom area. There are no hangers in the shower and it is an old hostel I guess I think it needs renovation especially for the common bathroom area.

A hostel that gets all the important stuff right - clean, comfortable beds, plugs by the bed (with EU plugs!), good AC, shower with good pressure etc. Very tasty breakfast at the Stone Town Caf as well, with the best coffee Ive had in Tanzania. But what really makes the place stand out is Simone - the human embodiment of going above and beyond. I was in Dar es Salaam for business and decided to hop over to Zanzibar for a weekend, without any real plans. Simone not only gave fantastic recommendations for how to spend the weekend, he even organised a scooter for me to rent and the Zanzibar driving permit. And all with a smile and great humour!

An awesome hostel right in the heart of Stone Town. Simon was the ideal host to have, had great knowledge of the area and was always happy to help. The rest of the staff were also very friendly. Location was walking distance from the hub, and the air con was very welcome after the sweaty walks around town. Highly recommend!

Very beautiful hostel in the middle of Stone town but away from the main streets so it's quiet and peaceful. Very nice staff and owner is a very friendly guy. Gives alot of tips and recommendations but also gets to know his guests too!

The Italian man @ the reception, what a gem!
Give the man a goddamn raise!
People like him increase customer satisfaction 10 which in turn generates good reviews and more customers.
The city introduction he gave me was imbeccable and invaluable.
He's reception in general made me feel at home and satisfied with the place.
Stone town house in itself is a great Hostel.
The outlets next to my bed were not working. The room was not full though so I could use the outlets of another bed.

The receptionist, the Italian gentleman, was very helpful. It is very centrally located, but the street gets scary in the evenings.
There were a lot of insects in the room. The sofa was so dirty that I showed it to the cleaning lady and they cleaned it. It is not cheap compared to its counterparts, but the location is very central.

Simone who runs this place was so nice to us, helped to manage everything, answered hundreds of our questions, and managed everything that we even slightly noticed. Great guy! Also have to mention his cats! Also a great location.

Located right in the heart of Stone Town, the area is quiet and pleasant. Good restaurants and attractions at 5 minutes walking distance. The receptionist / owner is amazing and very knowledgeable. He gave us the best recommendations and advices, what normal prices would be around the island so that we dont get scammed or overpay. That alone was very valuable, as first timers on the island.
We chose the private room with own bathroom, decently sized, comfortable bed, AC worked fine, no power shortages. They dont have a fridge in the room, but offered to keep our drinks cold in the fridge at the reception. You can pay directly by card in USD without any commission.
The bed felt a little fragile, but comfortable nonetheless.
The steep stairs, but theyre beautiful in their own way.
