I stayed in the one bedroomed suite overlooking the ocean and I found it to be adequately spacious and homely. The space was exceptionally clean, all supplies were provided and what wasn't was just a phone call away.
I happened to be there on a Saturday night and so got to have some of the barbecue buffet...it was delicious.
The breakfast was really yummy too. On the day I was leaving, I requested and was given a take away breakfast which I found quite delightful.
The staff are very professional and friendly. They went the extra mile to ensure that I was comfortable. Special credit goes to Jacqueline, Tuesday and Barak. Ebraheem and The Masai Boy were very cordial too.
In all, I had a very comfortable stay at the hotel and would choose it again when I next travel to Zanzibar.
I think the hotel could do better to have the simple repairs done for instance on the window and balcony door locks. For a solo traveller, doors and windows that do not lock can be a bit scary. Even the door to my room was a bit hard to open with a key on some occasions.
On my first night there was a heavy stench of serwage hanging around the hotel for several hours amd at some point it was unbearable. I called the Reception in the wee hours to find out what could be done but was told that unfortunately a neighboring establishment was having sewerage disposal done. The stench eventually went away at some point in early hours of the next day. The second night was perfect though...no complaints whatsoever.

We LOVED everything!! The location is perfect for exploring stone town and the nearby beaches. The food was sumptuous, the breakfasts set the perfect tone for each day. A stand out meal was the lamb biriani. Every person must try this. The room and the views were also brilliant. The best part of the stay though will have to be the staff, they are cream of crop when it comes to customer service in Tanzania. Making you feel right at home at every turn. The nicknames they have are a brilliant touch. I would like to single out Jacqueline with her ever present smile and calmness, Musa and finally Baraka (who we believe should be called `the plug`) for always having ready answers to our numerous questions and solutions on how to better experience Zanzibar. They made our stay that much more beautiful and helped us discover more of Zanzibar.

The staff were lovely, which was the only redeeming part of our stay. Hijrah on Reception was exceptionally helpful and kind and Barraka was also polite and helpful.
Overall, we were very disappointed with our stay, and we really regretted choosing this hotel. It was dirty, with multiple maintenance issues and far from any attractions. We wished we stayed closer to Stone Town, as taxis were expensive (20USD + tip return every time) and with traffic it could take around one hour to get into Stone Town, each way, which felt like wasted time. In our first room, the windows and floors were dirty, the toilet had urine all around the seat, and the wallpaper was peeling off the walls. The furniture was built askew so multiple drawers rolled open and wouldn't stay shut. On the second night the universal bathroom drain on the floor between the sink and toilet was blocked and smelled horrible, which then began wafting through all the rooms. As this could not be resolved, we were moved to another room at around 1:30 am after complaining and speaking to maintenance for over two hours.. Unfortunately, the second room had black mould in the showers, no hot water in one shower, and a broken toilet seat. Towels provided for the pool were mismatched and dirty/used. We felt the pictures didn't represent the current state of the property and would advise anyone coming to Zanzibar to look elsewhere!

The rooms were just too good and very spacious. We are a regular in Zanzibar, but never seen such spacious rooms.
Breakfast was amazing, options from swahili all the way to continental.
Advertised as beach front, but they should mention that the beach is not accessible. There are stairs going down to the beach, but it is very very rocky, a disappointment for a beach lover.
The food from the menu was not upto standard. Get a different chef, who can really compliment this hotel.

Top . Clean .. the best .. they pay attention to detail the breakfast was delicious I ate and ate until I was tired of eating . The views are amazing.. you feel like royalty in that hotel the staff is well trained I arrived at 01;00 am and still managed to get food and a nice welcome..

Dollar Pricing - hotel prices all service and eats in USD. This includes $2 for soda and another $2 dollars for a mediocre slice of marble cake. Pricing not related to quality.
Room - our room was situated on the side of the hotel facing a busy local road and next to mosque. Therefore falling asleep was a challenge and one was forced to wake up early as 6am in line with the business of the road
Air conditioner didnt work ; to be fair we were eventually moved to another room that had working AC. (Smaller room & we were not reimbursed for the difference)
Hot water works off a weird switch type mechanism ; we often found that there was not enough hot water to get a shower between 2 people
Food - with the exception of one day during our 6 day stay; all the breads and confectionaries were stale rock hard. Pancakes were under done. Food options were limited . We often found ourselves eating fruit in the morning; and having lunch and supper at external restaurants just to avoid the poor food quality at the hotel .
Television set remote did not work either and the channels were very limited.
You cannot tell from the pictures posted on the site but there is no access to sea sand beach where one can walk and swim comfortably
