Th staff were friendly, the location was fantastic. Breakfast was descent, very friendly cleaning staff.
I did not like my room because it was on the ground floor. I requested higher floor and double bed but i got ground floor and king bed.

The only good thing is the location
This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.
The room was moldy, the bed extremely uncomfortable, and the bed linen smelled bad. There were visible stains on the pillows and blanket, which is completely unacceptable.
The mosquito net was literally taped together with TESA tape, which says a lot about the condition of the room.
The bathroom was a disaster: old, worn-out and disgusting towels, a toilet that was falling apart, and everything looked dirty and poorly maintained. Nothing felt properly cleaned.
The coffee area on the dresser was never cleaned – there was dust and hair from previous guests still there.
Old does not mean charming or well-maintained. This place is simply old and unhygienic.
I am honestly just happy that I only needed the room for a few hours before my early-morning flight.
Another serious issue: there was almost no electricity on the 2nd floor, where my room was located, while other floors had power.
On top of that, I was charged $4 city tax at check-in, and they tried to charge me again at check-out. Unbelievable.
Overall, very disappointing and unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to stay somewhere else.

They did not give me a good room, it was too small for my mother and I to navigate. The bedsheets are overused and the room was stuffy.

The location was great and the rooftop was beautiful. They had the best free breakfast I had had of all 3 hotels I stayed at in Zanzibar

Wonderful
It is located in one of the best areas in Stone Town. The hotel is clean and neat, everything is run professionally. The staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good up in the terrace. Decoration, furniture all very good. Great place to stay in Stone town.
Coffee could be better. Africa has a good quality coffee.

The breakfast was superb with respect to location, ambiance, furnishings and content. The furnishings within the rooms, the room doors, and furnishings within the hallway were exceptional
The toilet seat would not stay up in my room. The windows were shielded so no natural light came in. The room was dark. I had an evening hot shower and it was freezing cold. Next door where my friends were, the sink faucets were broken. The Wi-fi was sporadic even in the reception area, Most of all, they were stingy when it came to water in the rooms. The bottles were small and when we asked for water bottles for the second day we were there, they told us to wait till the maid came to the room, and we could not even purchase extra water at the counter even though we desperately asked.That was unconscionable!

so calm, staff are so polite so easy to deal with, the breakfast was delicious and super nice, the waiter is so kind and smiling all the time
the door lock got an issue and they fixed it in the next morning (there was a secondary manual lock)

Location ONLY
There was tea in the room but no kettle. In the bathroom, hot water lasted only one minute before turning cold. The internet was absolutely terrible — there was no connection at all. The TV had only one local channel. I can say there was nothing in the bathroom that should normally be there. Breakfast was very poor. I think the owner of the hotel is extremely stingy. He charges 56 USD per room, so adding a few more items to breakfast wouldn’t ruin the hotel. I will definitely never go again and would not recommend it to anyone.
