The manager Sushant was a hero. When I faced issues with a safari where the taxi driver never showed up, Sushant helped me locate the safari company, give me advice and sort out the safari booking. He gave me a cool motorcycle ride through Zanzibar to get there.

I had the most incredible stay at Al Johari Zanzibar! I was celebrating my birthday, and the hotel made it extra special by giving me a complimentary room upgrade—such a thoughtful gesture! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive, making sure I felt at home. The hotel itself is a perfect blend of traditional Zanzibari charm and modern comfort. My upgraded room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, offering a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring Stone Town. The location is excellent—right in the heart of the city, within walking distance of key attractions, shops, and restaurants. Breakfast was a delightful experience, with a variety of fresh fruit, local delicacies, and international options, all served in a beautiful rooftop setting. One of the highlights of my stay was dining at the rooftop restaurant, where I enjoyed breathtaking ocean views while indulging in delicious food. The service throughout my stay was top-notch, with the staff always ready to assist with anything I needed. Thank you, Al Johari, for making my birthday so memorable! I will definitely be back. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zanzibar!

Charming boutique hotel in the heart of Stonetown. The ideal tranquil location in a fascinating historical building close to bars and restaurants and conveniently situated near the port terminal. Exemplary service from the friendly staff team who assisted with onward transfer. Would cetainly retutn and recommend to others who enjoy simething different from multinational or corporate chains.

Really wonderful place to stay in Stone Town. The room was clean, spacious and quite affordable for being in such a central location. It is very near all the major tourist sites. The owner and the staff were excellent. So helpful and ready at all times to assist. There is also a seating area on the top floor which was an added bonus.

The price is very expensive, I definitely do not recommend it, you can find another hotel near by for half the price.

The hotel is situated in a house in traditional style for Stone Town with lots of dark wood in doors and panels, reminding about old times. Hotel Al Johari & spa surprised me in everything. The rooms and the entire hotel are extremely clean and The hotel team is cheerful and always ready to help. When I entered the hotel, I never felt like I was just coming to a hotel. I felt that I had arrived at home, where I was welcomed with joy. The breakfast offered at the hotel is a la carte, prepared according to your wishes. I really like the idea of the new manager of the hotel restaurant to offer, in addition to breakfast, small snacks at other times, as well as lunch and dinner The room has everything necessary to satisfy even the most demanding wishes. If racks or shelves are often missing in the utility rooms, Al Johari Hotel has also thought of these little things. The shower room is spacious, the water pressure is very good, hot water is available around the clock. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi and spa as well.
