This property was incredible! I truly thought I was booking a hostel, only to get there and be blown away. The staff were so kind and accommodating, organizing transfers and activities for me every single day. The meals (included the complimentary breakfast) were served in their gorgeous and large resturant which was well priced. The rooms were everything you needed, comfortable and fitting with the tropical feel! I felt very safe as a solo traveller and had 100% in the staff and security. The location is INCREDIBLE, seconds from the beach, many cafes and restaurants. When I was considering booking Zanzibar, I looked at expensive hotels and thought booking a cheaper place was my compromise to being able to splurge more on activities. However, I got the best of both worlds, amazing accommodation and all the activities I wanted.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, great restaurant. Lots of communal areas. The private room was lovely and very clean.
While the room itself was great, the fact that there are no windows (only mesh panels) was a bit of a drawback. The room was facing the courtyard and it felt like you were sleeping in a tent - it was so noisy until quiet hours started, and music started playing in the courtyard early in the morning. It also meant you couldn’t have your curtains open unless you didn’t mind people being able to see right inside your room. Even with the curtains closed, because the windows are only mesh, they tended to blow open slightly. The room just didn’t feel very private and I found it hard to relax. I think there are more private room options available, it would just have been helpful to have been alerted to the mesh only windows when booking :)

Location was really good and the social area too.
The place was not a good value for the money we paid. The room hasn’t been cleaned once in 5 days. Also the smell in the bathroom was really bad and the toilets didn’t flush out after 2 days.

It was nice breakfast was included. The private room was comfortable and noise level on the main floor was minimal. I was beside the washroom and had no problem sleeping at night(off season so it wasn’t at full capacity). The bed was very comfortable.
As expected in a beach/sand area, there are many ants while eating breakfast, if only there was a way to keep them away like it is in restaurant.
Fan in room can be extremely noisy and shaky, be prepared to sleep with noise.

Staff are friendly and helpful, especially Deo, Sarah and Rafael. They made us feel at home despite the discomfort we felt at the place. The beds were quite comfortable.
The rooms allocated to us did not have toilets and showers. We had to use the outside toilets at night. We were 6 ladies in our 60's and we're given upstairs rooms, when we asked to swap we had to pay extra.. The manager on duty passed us without even greeting us.did not even come to greet us. When we went for dinner one of us did not get as the food was finished.

I visited Zanzibar recently, and honestly, Makofi is the best place anyone could ever stay! I spent three nights there, and they were probably the best nights ever. I honestly wish I could’ve stayed longer, but my wallet couldn’t keep up that’s how amazing the experience was!
The food is absolutely delicious and trust me, I’m a picky eater. Every meal was excellently prepared, full of flavor, and made with so much love. The environment is warm, friendly, and filled with lovely people. I met amazing people like Hassan, Raphael, and many others who were so helpful and welcoming. The apartment is super clean and cozy, and my roommate was just great. It truly felt like home.
One of my favorite memories was Tuesday barbecue night the food, the laughter, the music, the dancing! It was pure joy.
I can’t even describe how happy and satisfied I am. Makofi isn’t just a place to stay; it’s an experience. The people, the atmosphere, and the energy make it unforgettable. If you ever visit Zanzibar, trust me when I say this is the place to be. ?

The location and the food , there was also fire show in BbQ night which was nice to experience
Rooms were very tiny. There was construction next to hotel, very noisy starting at very early morning which made it uncomfortable during our stay

I really loved the location; it's a short walk to the beach. It was easy to get transport. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious
I would have liked them to change our bed sheets every day. I was there for a week, but the beds weren't done daily.

Beautiful place, located right next to the beach. Great breakfast and good social vibe.
Some difficulties with ordering a taxi for pickup from the airport (it never came) and also with canceling 3 nights that I was not staying there that I had already booked (I was ok with paying if no one else was going to stay but then I was asked to leave the room to clean for the next person and was not given any refund)
