We loved the staff, especially at the beach bar. Food at beach bar was very good as was the lemonades and blender juices. We loved the breeze there and the shade, the vibe, but especially Eli. Peter the manager was wonderful and his communication skills were excellent. There were a number of things out of his control (scheduled and unscheduled power outages, beautiful honey bees that decided breakfast was their favourite meal), and he was communicative so we were aware. We really appreciated that the answer to honey bees visiting wasn’t “spraying them dead”.
We were in a room with two rooms like an adjoining hotel room, which was fine, although we wished for a little communal space. neither room had very good lighting, especially in the bathroom which seems like an easy fix. The court area of the main space seems lush and shaded but the heat almost always was stiflingly hot with no breeze. This unfortunately stopped us dining there and spending much time there other than around 4-6 when in total shade and the pool felt cooler. We recognize that running a hotel in Zanzibar is NOT easy. We felt many highs about Zanzistar. We would have loved real coffee instead of instant. Apparently it was an option but we didn’t realize it until the 2nd last day. Our final comment is about the beach bar roof that we all hit multiple times. Simple flagging could prevent injury. This was brought to Peters attention so hopefully this will help others.

We stayed at Zanzistar as a large family (grand-parents and two family sub-groups with many kids). The facilities are beautiful and give a wonderful beach holiday feel, it's secluded and quiet, with a beautiful pool and very well set-up eating spaces (both by the beach with a beach club and by the main area for dinner). The staff were very accomodating to our large food orders, early dinner hours, etc which was very appreciated. The family room was very pretty and comfortable.

In the reception area, the floor was just beach sand , quite unusual. The furnishings in the room were retro and different. But could do with more light . The manager was very accommodating and had breakfast boxes ready for us when we had to leave at 6 am for the airport. The food was excellent albeit slightly pricey. The Jambiani beach was just a stone's throw away and I loved engaging with the locals.Had a good feeling about the place. Very reasonably priced. Good manager.
A little too retro for me but that is merely a personal opinion. That was the motif for the site and they accomplished that well.

Only note is that it’s hard to find staff. At check in I had to go searching for someone to check in and then after check in I also went to find the beach bar area and came back to ask someone but no one was there.

I really enjoyed my time in Jambiani. The lodge is adorable and very laid back, which was perfect for me. As a solo traveler, I particularly appreciated the beach bar, which allowed me to leave me stuff while I went in the water, went for walks on the beach. Value for money is great as well - the staff was very friendly, they organized transfers, the food was great, etc. I hope I’ll be back soon!

Wonderful service! Both the staff at Zanzistar as the accommodation itself was so nice that we immediately felt at home. Housekeeping took care of our room twice a day (at least), the food was always fresh and delicious and the premises are every bit as cosy and comfy as shown in the pictures. Thank you for making our stay so memorable dear people from Zanzistar lodge!!!!
If I really would had to think of something then it would be that the mattress of the bed was a bit to hard for my liking.

Very good location, few steps (maybe 50 m or even less) from the beach, with their own restaurant ( very nice and cosy) on the beach, where you can leave your things and go to the sea. The food is good, for breakfast a lot of different things. The outdoor space is decorated in very nice tropic style with a pool and lot of palm trees and with nice artistic details. The rooms are big and also very nice with a lot of natural light, great bed and very clean. The staff and the owner are very professional and helpful. I had a really terrible sea sickness one day and the owner responded immediately with some medicine and offered to take me to the doctor if I needed. Luckily the medicine helped. Also some restaurants and small stores just few steps from the lodge and you can go for a walk even in the evening. The village is quiet. Locals are very friendly and I felt totally safe despite the fact that I travelled solo. I would warmly recommend this beautiful place to everyone!

I can’t describe how impressed I have been with this place. Each and every staff member have gone out of their way to make me feel comfortable and happy. Food is delicious, staff are attentive and friendly, accommodation is clean and comfortable. I was even upgraded to the beautiful beach house as it was available during my stay. We enjoyed every moment in Zanzistar ☀️ all employees were so nice, helpful and supportive. We loved the area, people, food ... Simply everything. Peter helped us with tours, mainly organized by Kacho and his team. Kacho is great guide, highly recommended. If you wish to spend your vacation with locals and not many tourists, Jambiani is great place to go and enjoy the atmosphere of real Zanzibar ❤️ we THANK everyone in Zanzistar who made our holiday unforgotable!

We spent here 4 nights in the family bungalow. The rooms are big and the beds are extremely comfortable. Shower has hot water with amazing water pressure. Very thing was super clean. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. The restaurant and beach bar have really good food. We would definitely come came back and recommend this place for a large group/ family

Our stay was perfect and I can’t wait to return. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, the rooms were comfortable, the food was delicious, and the location was great. The atmosphere was very chill, and the lounge areas were as appealing as the beautiful beach.
