Disappointing
I love the location and I enjoyed the staff and the attentiveness that they showed me.
I also liked the food and the quickness which it was served.
I did not like that at 11:45pm when I got up to shower there was no water.
I did not like that after hours there was no one to ask or call on with questions.
I did not like that the exit had no proper lighting.
I did not like when I went out to get my Bolt ride the facility was dark .People were approaching me and I couldn’t even see their faces.
They wanted to assist me with my bags but I don’t know who or where they are from.I could not identify security ,which as a single woman traveling alone is important.

OK, I stayed there 7 years ago, so I knew what I can expect, so I was not shocked (again) when I entered... it was relatively cheap and within 15 minutes walk from the Dar es Salaam airport terminal (even during the night without any fear), that is why I opted for it second time
internet was not working during my 3 nights at all; even the cold water (forget about hot) was not running twice and they had to fix it (when I woke up in the morning and there was no water I asked two black people sleeping on the chairs in front of my room to fix it immediately, but they did not care and continued doing what they do best - nothing, so I had to shout at them to get into action); the water pressure in the wash basin was minimal; there is no aircon, only a fan (but they have rooms with aircon but you have to pay more); the window was completely covered; loud music in the bar until late night; the access road is terrible, you cannot even tow your luggage how bad it is; and the top of it - I asked the owner if I can have a quick shower after a hot and humid day before my evening departure and she wanted me to charge another night for it, so I said "no way"; yes, it is relatively cheap but it is not worth even those 15 EUR per night if you consider the price levels in Tanzania; only for a real adventurers and people that are happy with minimal standard

The guest house fits its purpose, it’s simple but clean (even with a fan) and in prime location to the airport. I (female solo traveller) walked to the airport at 1:30 am at night accompanied by the night guard for a small tip. The guest house would have also organized a transfer by car for an extra fee, but it’s literally only 10 min by foot. Simple but fair accommodation if you just want to sleep for a few hours before heading to the airport.
It’s very basic but fair for the price.

you can't expect much from a property that asks for such low prices, so you have to know that everything will be very very basic. In its simplicity my room had everything... sheets, towel, a bar of soap and you can walk to and from the airport!
the hotel was surprisingly very quiet at night, but there was a woodworm inside the door that made a hell of a noise!!!

Kicec Bar and Guest Hotel is excellent value for money. Considering the very low price, the accommodation was quite adequate.
There was no hot water but this wasn't really a problem. Also the mosquito net had large holes in it.

Very close location to the airport. We only used this room for a short sleep while waiting for our next internal flight. But for the price it was very convenient.
The aircon worked well to keep us cool.
The property could do with lots of maintenance. Taps in bathroom didn’t work and water just came down the wall. Shower looked like it had just been cemented in with no paint work etc.
It’s down a small back alley that can feel a little bit scary at night if this is your first taste of Africa after arriving at the airport. But it was safe, no issues, just dark and no street lamps so wouldn’t recommend if you are a solo traveller. But in a group it was fine.

Staff did not speak English. Our friends had already paid for their room in advance over the internet, but the staff made them pay again, since they had not yet received the money from the booking agency. Seems like they did not understand how bookings over the internet work. You only get paid after the traveler has left! They did not let us speak to the manager. So in general, not a very good service - and our friends paid twice for their room!
