The property is a compound of four houses with two bedrooms in each house. If you book only one room, there’s a good chance you were sharing a house with someone else, including the communal areas of each house. It got a bit noisy with the house sharers, the shower has low water pressure and didn’t get warm and with all the houses occupied the air conditioning didn’t work - it seemed the power load was too much so all electrical would struggle.

We had a very poor experience at La Parlour which we did not expect based on the reviews. We booked a room with twin beds online. Upon checking in, my friend and I were given a key to a small house with a bedroom, bathroom and living room. We ordered dinner for later and settled into our room. After dinner, we paid for our stay in cash (USD) because the manager did not want us to pay with a card. (Big mistake as we received no receipt). We locked the door to our place and went to sleep. At around midnight, we were awoken to 2 men (hotel staff) entering our bedroom and found that there was a family of 6 other guests that were coming to stay in our place - the same place were were given by the manager. The family was with their luggage and had no idea we were there. We were obviously very upset and afraid at strange people entering our room, especially being 2 females, and also so late into the night with no prior warning. The hotel manager than proceeded to yell at us that this was her hotel and we had only booked one room, so she was able to bring in other people into our place and we should understand because we were also travelers. We told her that during check in, we were not informed at all that there was another room in addition to ours in the same space, nor that there would be other guests arriving so late into the night to "share" the room, or we would never have agreed to stay in the place. We had to leave early at around 5 am to go to the airport, and we believe the manager was trying to make extra money by placing other guests in our place around midnight and hoping we would not notice. We were very traumatized by the whole experience and did not get sleep that night. Completely unacceptable and inappropriate behavior coming from the hotel manager and completely undermined our safety and security.

The room was quite small for three guests, though manageable for a one-night stay. The closets in the room were locked, and there were no hooks in the bathroom or main area to hang clothes or wet towels. The use of the hair dryer was not permitted; we had to wait approximately 15 minutes for the water to warm up before showering. Following our safari, our tour guide dropped us off, the location shown on Google Maps was incorrect. After contacting Le Parlour, they were able to provide the correct directions.

It’s not clear that you share a little house with other guests. So yes you do have a living room, TV and kitchenette but they are shared. The kitchenette is completely useless as it contained nothing - not even a glass or a cup. The host showed us our house and then told us the people who would be sharing it would arrive later. Judging by the honking at the gate about midnight they did arrive but weren’t actually let in. I slept very poorly wondering if we’d have company but my lack of sleep was probably more due to the air conditioner dripping water on my head even though it was turned off. The “restaurant” offers whatever they happen to be serving. In our case the dinner was pretty good as was breakfast. Our breakfast host was nice and friendly.
