Good
Roof terrace where drinks are offered (food also but I didn't have any). Value for money is excellent.
The room was quite noisy due to the main street nearby.

Good
The top of the place is a sky bar. With a great view. We actually spend almost all our time there. The place is rather close to the airport. The value is still great thogh
The room had a old school padlock on the door not a lock. The two bed were a bit too much for the space we had in the room.

It doesn’t feel like a hotel, more like home. I loved it!
The WiFi was the only downside.

Disappointing
It was cheap
The stay was unfortunately disappointing. The rooms are very small, and the facilities feel outdated, with some items not working properly. There is no air conditioning, and the fan does not provide much relief, which makes the room uncomfortable.
The bed was quite old and partially broken, and the mattress was not comfortable. Breakfast was rather mediocre and did not meet expectations. Overall, the experience fell short in several important aspects.

Great location, great staff and excellent value for money. The best value for money accomodation we have stayed in across Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya so far. Thanks guys. They even help to organise safari tours at competitive prices. Great job.

Fair
Location. And convenience
Your staff overcharged as compared to the receipt i received from you. It is not the amount but the principle. That was not professional

Their motto (the budget traveler’s paradise) is perfect. The value for the money is outstanding. Even though the facilities are basic, the staff is wonderful, the property is clean and comfortable, and the location is great!

Fair
Overall, the hotel is better than one might initially expect. The building is relatively large, has several floors, and is fairly centrally located. One clear advantage is that there are hot showers, which is definitely a plus. I also appreciated that I was allowed to stay longer on the rooftop when my connecting bus was delayed! that flexibility was very helpful and kind.
That said, my overall experience was mixed. I stayed at the hotel for two nights in total, although I had booked nine nights and spent the remaining nights elsewhere.
The experience varied significantly depending on the room. During my first night, I stayed in a four-bed dorm, which was relatively quiet. There was some street noise, but it was manageable, and I was able to sleep quite well.
The second night, however, was very different. I stayed in a single room that was extremely small and had no window. During the night, there was a power outage, which meant the fan stopped working and there was no proper ventilation at all. This made the room very uncomfortable. Additionally, the walls are extremely thin. I could clearly hear conversations from other rooms, and others could hear mine as well — even normal phone calls were not private.
Early in the morning, around 5 or 6 a.m., the cleaning staff started talking loudly, joking with each other and shouting across the hallway. Because of the noise and poor sound insulation, I was already awake around 4 a.m. and could not fall back asleep, which was quite frustrating.
Regarding facilities, while the rooms themselves were clean, the shared toilets were unfortunately very dirty. Some curtains were missing or hanging loosely, and there was also a strong, unpleasant smell in certain areas. I was also uncomfortable with the shared bathrooms for men and women, especially the open urinals, which did not feel very comfortable or well designed in terms of privacy.
I also tried the food on the terrace, but it was disappointing. The menu was very limited, the food was dry, and basic things like napkins were missing. I would recommend eating outside instead.
In conclusion, the hotel can be an acceptable option if you only need a place to sleep for 2–3 nights and manage expectations. For longer stays, however, I would not recommend it.

I would like you guys to make proper cleanliness. Under bed is very dirty, pillows has no cover and has stains. Bad enough my bed has a bed bugs ? I didn't sleep for the whole night. The location and services from reception was at top notch .
Bites from bed bugs ? was my ever bad experience from your lorge. Please make sure you get rid of those inconveniences for the sake of sustaining your house mission. Thank for asking ?

Staff and location. Social vibe is also nice, allowing you to meet fellow travelers
Be aware of bed bugs! I had some in my single room, but as soon as I told the reception they changed my room and let me keep my stuff there for a bit.

The staff (Adam, Emmanuel, everyone) were fantastic. They went out of their way to be friendly, gave great recommendations to eat, good safety advice, were patient in helping me pick up basic phrases in swahili, and also gave info on transportation etc. The top floor terrace is fantastic for breakfast and dinner as well as a chance to relax with a soda or beer and meet other travelers. Breakfast is pretty basic with fruit, tea, coffee, toast, cereal. The location was an easy 8 minute walk to the bus station. I felt pretty safe during the day for a solo traveler though like most places, I'd be street smart and not wander around at night. I was able to hand wash and line dry my laundry, walk a few minutes to nearby markets, and head out for great local food in the area. The rooms are pretty basic with bed, ceiling fan, and small desk. There's a big padlock on each door that you keep the key to. The bathrooms on each floor were very clean though shower /toilet are in the same stall so it's pretty tight and definitely not luxurious. It was a great home base for before and after safari and the price is a great value. I met international who were volunteering in Arusha and who were staying there for 6-8 weeks. There's also volunteer opportunities posted on the ways. Other guests were really quiet and polite. I'd definitely want to come back.
The shower/toilet stalls are a bit cramped. Maybe more hooks or even a shower curtain.

Very Poor
I came and then immediately left.
Fake place, they don't even bother to check the booking reservation, and immediately asked me to paid a double rate price, and the exchange are even worse, they used their mark up rate 35 percent more than official rate. the room is not even same with the photos, with no window etc. booking should close this place . I guess tourist is their quick money rich scheme.

I stayed at Arusha Backpackers for 6 nights and honestly, I loved every moment. The place is always clean, comfortable, and well kept exactly what you need after long days in Arusha. The staff are super welcoming and always ready to help with anything. A special shout-out to Jonas, who made my stay even easier with his assistance and kindness.
I really enjoyed my experience, and I think this will definitely be my go-to place every time I visit Arusha. Highly recommended!

Nice location with access to everything in town. Nice rooftop area to hang out and meet people.
Located right on the main road so it was a bit noisy.
