Great location, spacious rooms. The host was very responsive via WhatsApp, albeit we’ve never met them in person.
It can get quite noisy at night.

Absolutely amazing, authentic place. Feels like having your very own artist studio in the most historically relevant city of Taiwan! Location could not be better.
I truly hope to come back one day!
The bathroom in the foirth floor is a semi-open design - so in winter month it can be a bit cold if you need to go to the toilet at night - but that is by far outweight by the general awesomness of the place!

The location was near many of the tourist attractions, and it made it easy to get around even for someone like me who doesn't ride a scooter.
I think there oftentimes isn't anyone at the front desk. I didn't need much help but if someone did, they would likely have to call the provided phone number.

Room was huge and AC worked well since it was 95 degrees everyday. Also, there was a full body mirror in the room! (I noticed a lot of rooms in Taiwan don't have full body mirrors). Bathroom is nice as it has a tub and an open shower. There is also a bar literally next door to the left of the entrance, which has an amazing owner with delicious drinks. Finally, location is good but we used Uber a lot which was really easy and quick.
Nothing honestly. Top 2 places I've stayed at in Taiwan.

- Enormous, clean room full of character;
- Central location, close to many sights;
- At walking distance from bus and train stations;
- Friendly, helpful host.
- Poor sound proofing, very noticeable traffic noise throughout the night (could be specific to room 102, which was at the front of the building);
- Aircon too loud and powerful to be comfortable.

Great stay at Thinking homestay! Very unique antique accommodation and all amenities thought of. Good location right next to Yongle market where you can get delicious neighborhood eats. Right next door is a custom cocktail bar for a memorable experience!
A hand towel would be a nice improvement.

The room is spacious and spotless! I absolutely love the bathtub, and the bed is quite comfortable too. The location is fantastic—just a 30-second walk to the most popular morning market, packed with local delights like spring rolls and beef soup. Despite being so close to the buzz, the sound insulation is surprisingly good. I’d love to stay here again! The hosts, a lovely family, and their staff are incredibly attentive and helpful. ?
If I had to nitpick, the water flow in the bath could be a bit stronger, but that’s a minor thing. Overall, I’d love to stay here again!

- Clean room and spacious room, very comfortable bed, the balcony was a nice benefit. As quiet as it could be close to a big road.
- Good location: with backpacks easily reachable from the train station. Right next to Yongle Market.

One of our best stays in Taiwan!! It's in an old building, very thoughtfully refurbished to maintain its original character. The room was massive, more the size of an apartment. The location is perfect and the staff is kind. There is also a shared kitchen with everything you may need. The room also had an excellent bathtub. Would definitely be back!!
There were no downsides to this room, except the towels are synthetic and they only provide one per person. Also bring an eye mask - the light filters through the corridor windows at night.

Wonderful and welcoming owners. I also appreciate that it was the only hostel in Taiwan that did not charge for the use of the washing machine (and washing powder).
There are hostels with more modern facilities, but this one has a heart and a soul

Super cute small room! Loved the decor, and the bed and pillow are super comfy. Loved staying in my own private room that felt cosy and homely and not at all like a typical “hotel”. Very quiet and private with your own little garden to relax in.
I love old houses, but they should be taken care of. The shared bathroom and toilet have seen much better days. It was a shame to see they are not maintained and taken care of. While clean and functional, they need repairs to return them to the beauty they could be. Also the room was a little dusty if you pay attention to the non-obvious areas I.e the decor fan, tops of curtains.
