Lovely stay, the room decoration and smell is like what you would experience in a vintage asean house. It smelled like my grandparent house.
Payment method can be improved, it does sound shady when you asked to pay outside the platform in advance while mentioning 'make payment within the next 1hr' and sent it at 1am !?

Excellent location, tucked down a small lane. It’s an old house, with some vintage furnishings. This made for a stay in a property that had character. It might not be for everyone, but was one of the main reasons we chose the Homestay..

Cockroaches, some dead, some alive, unfriendly faces, no water dispenser,
and the owners... they will stay with you, and believe me , the walls are thin, and the ac isn't cold at all

Good location (though can be a bit hard to find at first), enjoyable cozy place (it reminded me of a relatives house). I was allowed to check in a couple of hours early, which was very appreciated as it was storming outside.
Thin walls, so i could hear my neighbours (though they did warn you about this, and they kept quiet at night). Weird message after booking where you have to agree to all house rules within 6 hours or lose the booking, which i found very weird (however seems to be something in Tainan, where 2 other hotels canceled my booking for random reasons without ever replying to me)

The place has a very cute traditional vibe, starting from the hall and the room was spacious and nice. It's very close to main attractions, heaps of food nearby. The host, who must have been the owner, I guess, was very friendly and let me leave my suitcase after check out. I checked in quite late and they left detailed instructions and the key for me in the letterbox.
It's a bit tricky to find, or maybe it was just me as I got lost and would have not found it without a help from the local. Make sure you have data on your phone so you can message the hostel in case you are lost. The walls are a bit thin so you can hear some noise from inside and outside, but they tell you that from the beggining.

The design of the place is great. The feeling is like staying in another period of time and same time everything is decorated in a very lovely way. Plus the place is quite clean. I made a mistake and did not find the house at the beginning and was even offered by the host that she would search for me. :-) I had the room with the balkony that was quite big. I would love to stay there again.

It was kept clean and tidy, facilities were good for price and there was good water pressure for the shower. The staff were friendly

Very central. Room interesting with quirky features. Nice fan.
It is remote entry which proved a bit of a challenge. Once you have the key all is good. I had a sink in room but toilet just across from room. I didn’t realise I hadn’t paid ( thought booking.com had taken payment ). Received quite a threatening message that was in my opinion unnecessary. I managed to pay remotely. This issue would have been avoided had I actually been able to meet with the host.

The room was very comfortable and spacious. With the antiques collected, the space was not so limited to certain function but full of creativity, which made it even a more comfy stay. The location is super convenient. Many attractions are in the walkable distance. The host offers help service to make travellers' trip more convenient.
The communication between the host and the guest was a little bit pushy, like Q&A required to answer in a limited time span, which is quite opposite to the relaxing and cozy atmosphere feeling the property tries to give people(or just my illusion maybe). Even the housekeeper (or the helper) would straightforwardly assume that the guest should have known certain information, speaking relatively fast.

The decor had character, nostalgic. Old in a nice way and reminded me of my grandmas house. Lots of accessories and ornaments from decades ago and an old map in the stairway. I loved the tiled bathtub for the shower. It felt homely. Hot water was good.
The staff I met who was cleaning was very friendly and lovely, we chatted a while and was able to leave my luggage before checkin. I was initially given the wrong room but all was sorted and collecting the key was smooth and secure. Communication with the owner was great, it was timely and very clear instructions.
Nice communal areas with lounge and kitchen. There is a fridge and cups/bowls/water station to use. Room felt very clean, and the sheets were soft. Air con and fan in the room. Power sockets with international plug outlets and plenty of them so no matter what type of plug you will be able to charge your devices.
Only small thing is light would come through in the morning in the windows as there are no curtains, it was frosted windows.

- Definitely: the vintage decoration of the four larger bedrooms and communal space, which was simple but sophisticated.
- The shared bathroom on the 2nd floor was very clean.
- Very quiet place.
- No meals provided but hot/cold water, kitchen stove and refrigerator available.
- No human being to receive guests or to provide any information.
- Several leaflets available for guests, but all in Chinese.
- The single room, that I occupied, was cramped and stuffy, with a small window only opening onto a skylight. Despite the screen, the many mosquitoes in the room seemed not to be bothered by the repellent.
- The filter of the water jug in the kitchen had expired.
