Disappointing
It was a beautiful place to visit, but the overall experience was quite disappointing. There were too many people have approaching tourists to sell boat tickets and bicycle rentals, and the pricing was very inconsistent. Boat tickets ranged from 150 to 300, and the bicycle rental prices were also unclear. For tourists, especially those unfamiliar with the area, the lack of proper information made everything confusing.
Overall, the scenery is lovely, but the chaotic environment, unclear pricing, and lack of helpful guidance made the experience far less enjoyable.
The hotel staff did not provide the guidance we expected. Even though we explained our plans, they still charged us extra for the boat tickets but failed to give us the correct information about the boat route. Because of this, we ended up missing the place we planned to visit, and to go there again, we would have to pay for another boat ticket, which was very frustrating.
We noted that the hotel’s rating is 7.6, and from our experience, this seems appropriate unless the hotel enhances its service quality and provides better guidance to guests.

fantastic views from top floor room (but in too late checkin time to enjoy for one night). Spacious room. Enjoyed breakfast. Staff were pleasant and helpful
needs a really thorough clean - room was grubby- dust and small spill stains. Hot water just warm enough, fittings a bit distressed (chipped tiles, laminate lifting on furniture, unfinished repairs- eg drilled holes left unplugged etc ). Very expensive (au$ 200 per night) for what it is. Other nearby options are better value

We totally enjoyed our stay at this family-run hotel! Breakfast included about 4 traditional Taiwanese dishes, and continental Western-style breakfast (toast and with jelly/various spreads). Coffee and teas were always available. The location was excellent for a short walk to the cable car ("Ropeway"), shops, restaurants, waterfront, etc. The hotel was quiet, clean, had air conditioning, and was well-run. Larry and Angela were very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed, gave us advice when we wanted, gave us umbrellas to use on a day with rain predicted (which came in handy!), and were generally friendly. We were very happy with our stay and highly recommend it.

The host and manager was exceptionally warm, friendly, and helpful, and the staff were also excellent.
It is in a nice quiet area but still close to transportation, attractions and local conveniences.
Prices are GREAT value for money, and the upgrade cost is VERY worth it to an amazing suite.
Breakfast (included in the price) was a tasty Taiwanese buffet.
Our first smaller room (before we decided to upgrade) didn't have a good view. But that didn't really bother us as we weren't there (in that room) for the view, and the room itself was nice and great value.
