The hot springs tub in my room!
The place is a bit run-down. Not that I minded, but there is a lot of potential there that's untapped.

Very pleasant place. I spent three nights there, surrounded by typical Taiwanese countryside. At the time of my stay (beginning of November) there was almost no one in the resort. I had the outdoor hot springs almost to myself. The accommodation is clean, well equipped, the private bathroom has a thermal spring. A very pleasant stay in the oldschool thermal springs.
Even though the room has a window, not much light enters the room and during the day the room is quite dark without the light bulb on. During my stay (beginning of November), there was no possibility to eat in any restaurants in the vicinity. There is only one Family mart nearby. But that's nothing against the hotel, just the place is a bit more remote from Ruisui town.

The hot springs were lovely and just what I needed after a long days cycling. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a lovely terrace which was great to have a beer on in the evening.
The spa is up on a hill out of town. Worth bearing in mind if you don't have your own transportation. Also we would have liked an option for breakfast.

Exceptional
Very nice stay in one of the oldest hot springs in Taiwan. Opened to the public in 1919 and used before that by local police. The hotel is actually a complex of the main building and hot spring and several smaller buildings 3 minutes walking from the main house. I was in one of the lower buildings and my own hot which was nice. The main hot springs consist of three large pools, all fairly simple compared to more modern properties. The staff were great, especially Robert, who gave a tour and showed me to cabin. The breakfast buffet was on the porch with a great view of the valley and New Year fireworks, 2021. Excellent stay
