Disappointing
The location and architecture of Gloria Manor are truly beautiful. The property itself is stunning, surrounded by nature, and our room was lovely. We were also very happy to be upgraded to a room with a view of both the pool and the sea, which made us even more excited about our stay.
We had been looking forward to this stay for a long time, especially because we are traveling around Taiwan for our honeymoon, so staying at Gloria Manor was meant to be one of the special highlights of our trip. The room itself was comfortable, spacious, and the bed was exceptionally large and comfortable.
Unfortunately, the overall experience was very underwhelming, especially considering the price and our expectations.
On our first evening, we had a reservation at the hotel’s restaurant, which is presented as a world-class dining experience featuring exceptional ingredients and gourmet cuisine. We looked at the menu beforehand, and the prices certainly reflected that positioning, so we were expecting a truly memorable meal.
We made a reservation for 8:30 PM, just over an hour after arriving at the hotel. When we entered, we were surprised to find that we were the only guests in the entire restaurant. While this could have felt intimate and exclusive, it actually made us question the experience and wonder why there were no other diners. Perhaps it was simply because it was relatively late for dinner, but it made us feel a little uncomfortable and uncertain about what to expect.
Unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations at all. We ordered six dishes and only ate three of them, finishing only two. The meal was extremely underwhelming, and by far the most expensive meal we had paid for during our entire trip in Taiwan. I am generally not someone who complains about food, which made the experience particularly disappointing.
The following morning, we returned to the same restaurant for breakfast. We were served a basket of sweet pastries and spreads, and unfortunately there were insects inside the basket. It completely put me off eating, although we asked for it to be replaced and tried to continue with our breakfast.
We also asked the front desk about the laundry service, as we are traveling around Taiwan for our honeymoon and frequently use hotel laundry facilities when available. Usually, doing laundry takes us no more than an hour or two. We were told that the hotel’s laundry service is outsourced, and that if we handed our clothes in that day, we would only receive them back two days later, on the day we were checking out.

Gloria Manor is such a beautiful property. From the second we opened the door to our room, 2301, we knew we had made a mistake by not booking more than our two night stay. We should have stayed at least four nights to fully appreciate the property, the Kenting National park and Kenting town.
My husband loved the 25 metre pool. We both loved waking up to the rolling hillside below and the ocean in the distance.
Breakfast was excellent with great choices for vegetarians and meat eaters.
The beds were comfortable and the towels luxurious. Having hair conditioner has become a treat as it’s often not supplied any longer.
The staff, in particular the always smiling and accommodating male at the front desk, were top notch.
Kenting Forest park was worth the four hours we spent on the paths. What a beautiful place. Shedding park was not as well developed but also worth a few hours walk although the path bricks are a bit of a tripping hazard. Both Kenting park and Shedding are walkable from Gloria Manor, about 1 1/2 k, but you could also take the hotel shuttle. The path around the headland trail in town is also a gorgeous walk, not to be missed. In the late afternoon don’t miss the monkeys at the front gate of the hotel, they provide great entertainment.

We had a great stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and the hotel's design was really nice. The place could use a little touch-up here and there — maybe a fresh coat of paint in some spots — but nothing major. The only real downside was that there wasn't a bar open in the evening to enjoy a drink. Other than that, it’s a lovely place to stay.

Wonderful hotel in the middle of the woods. Calm and relaxing.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Shuttle service to nearby locations.
Fitness room was not available (was an important point when booking for us).
It took time to get your food in the restaurant, we did not mind, since everyone was so nice, but you need to be patient☺️

The location and hotel are beautiful. We especially loved the swimming pool and the ocean view from our balcony. Everyone at the hotel was so friendly and it was easy to get around using the hotel shuttle bus. In comparison to other places we have stayed in Taiwan we appreciated the effort the hotel goes to be more sustainable, there is fresh water available but no plastic single use bottles and there are reusable coffee pods.
