Disappointing
I've literally never written a review before but I must mention how ABSURD it is not to offer towels or even rent them. You either bring your own or you must buy one (which as a backpacker, you probably don't have room for in your bag). To me, this reeks of a BLATANT CASH GRAB - surely they crunched the numbers and figured that many people who buy a towel probably leave it there so they can resell it. To me this is a VIOLATION of the backpacker spirit of communality and practicality.

Room and facilities were clean. The sky garden was an awesome place to hang out and close of the day with a beer or two. Convenient laundry room and plenty of space to hang it out to dry. Location was extremely convenient and right by the central park.
Nothing comes to mind.

Pleasant
Double room was like a normal hotel room but for a cheap price since it was a hostel
Close to train station
Nice there was a kitchen
Reception staff were sometimes unfriendly/weird
Location is on big road and motorbike noise makes it hard to sleep
Only 2 washing machines for such a big hostel - sometimes you have to wait a while to use one
There was a stain on my bed sheet that looked like an old period blood stain. Eventually it got changed but it shouldn't have been there in the first place.

This hostel provided everything that I needed. Nice common area with a good kitchen and the rooftop is really cute. In the dorm rooms, the beds are spacious and there's ample room to store your stuff. I also had a private room for a few nights and it was great!
Super quiet and respectful guests. Great location.
Not that social of an environment and I don't think it did the best job of helping you get to know the city compared to other hostels that I stayed at in Kaohsiung

Nice hostel in a good location. Friendly front desk people and lots of things to do in the hostel itself. Rooms are spacious.
The vent in the rooms is very loud.

Great location just a ~2-minute walk from MRT Central Park. Best showerheads and water pressure from maybe anywhere I’ve ever stayed tbh, including proper hotels. Well-equipped kitchen/pantry area. Comfy common area with varied seating (tables, couches, etc.) and a huge tv. Female dorms on 3fl have easy access to the bathrooms. I believe there are 4 quite roomy shower stalls and 4-5 toilet stalls. Plus good hairdryers. I didn’t check out the rooftop, and the basement was closed while I was there, as far as I could tell. The bed was pretty comfy and mine (E5) had a little window, which was nice.
The showers are not well-partitioned so the water from other people’s shower will come into yours, which isn’t the biggest deal but it’s kinda gross. Water also gets all over the floor outside the shower stalls. Sometimes there were towels down, sometimes not. Sometimes the towels were there but so saturated with water that you get soaked stepping on it.
The bunk beds may be wooden but they’re still noisy. If the person on top moves, plugs anything in, or touches/moves anything on their shelf/storage area, it will echo directly above your head. Also, the air conditioning doesn’t always reach inside the bunks very well even if you leave the curtain somewhat open. I personally got uncomfortably toasty even in the early days of January when temperatures hit the ‘teens overnight.
The most annoying thing is what other reviews have mentioned: the plugs in each bunk only work when your key is in the switch thing. I guess they wanna save money on electricity by making sure you can only charge things when you’re in bed. ? But depending on the room, there are other plugs that work without the card, if you feel like leaving things unattended.

Room is nice and clean. We got free ice and water in the common room which is great. Chargers at the side of each bed was convenient. Location is not that bad, just need to walk a bit from the train station and there are convenience stores nearby.

Wonderful
Its a combination between hostel and hotel. The room had everything you need for good value.
The place had 2 common areas, including a rooftop with nice views of the city.
The place is very big. The living area on the first floor is clean and spacious but very quiet. Not a friendly atmsophere.

Amazing location! Clean rooms! Close to stores, park, food, and (most importantly) train station and bus stops!
A mirror in the room would have been nice, but I noticed this is a trend throughout Taiwan.
